Hi
I have my PIXMA MP780 for almost 3yrs hardly ever used it worked perfectly until out of blue it decided not to print. When I go to Microsoft Office etc and I type something and then try to print it takes the paper tries to print but the page is blank also when I go my emails it prints only evrything around the email like the borders etc. but not the actual email. I have done the clean up of the priners and ink like I was advised by Canon Technical Support but with no results. Funny enough it will print the picture with perfect colurs but not the writing even with the fax machine if someone will try fax me something it will take the paper, move it like it's printing but the paper will come out blank. Please help to solve this mistery!!!!! :(

Try printing something in a colored font, like red or green and see what happens. This printer uses two black ink cartridges. It uses the larger one for black text printing. If it is dry, blocked, or damaged, your text (usually black) will not print. Changing to a color font will rule that out.

Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.
Use the cleaning cycle first. If it completes do a nozzle check and then to align follow below.
You need to hook it up to computer to do a manual head align through the printer properties maintenance section.
Are you using Windows?
If so clean out your temporary files and defrag the drive.
Printers in Windows spool the job to a temporary file and then retrieves it.If the temp folder is full or the drive is fragmented this will cause your issue.
your MCY (color) cartridge is damaged, or either needs cleaning, try to remove this and clean the head with a soft cloth and re-install once again, if it doest work then replace the cartridge
