Were you running windows xp and then upgraded or replaced your operating system with Windows seven? If so, then your right - your problem did begin with windows seven. There is an ethernet adapter driver in Windows xp that is not available in Windows seven. I would suggest going to Hp's website and click on support and then chat services and give them the info on your pc and ask for a link to download the driver you need to connect to the internet. they can assist you with this for free.
Go to control panel, then click on system, a windows should open displaying the system specs, on the bottom it says windows activation. If it is genuine it should read: Windows is activated.

I guess your operation system is windows seven, so you just do these steps:
1.click on "Start" menu
2. right click on the "Computer"
3. select "Propertise"
4. at the bottom of the window you can find a link for activating.
follow those steps, and your windows will be activated.

did you download the all drivers under camera category? if it still doesnt work, try to format the harddrive again. if it still wont work then it needs service
