I like to use the internet on my mobile phone by accessing a wireless network (e.g at home) to minimise my data use through my service provider. I just upgraded from the Nokia N95 to the Samsung Tocco, but didn't realise there's no wireless option. Is there anyway I can connect to my home wireless connection to access the net on my phone via home broadband?
Im not 100% sure, but when i was reading the user manual of the tocco, it said something about a "flight" setting which users wireless networks, same thing as when you on a plane, if you read you user manual it should tell you what it actuall means x

In the settings for your phone there should be a place where you can enable mobile networking. This allows you to access the net when you are not in wireless range of your home network or wifi hotspot(s). You must have a data plan with your cell provider do use this feature and you must be aware that using it rather than your home network is eating up valuable data allowance.
If you have a data plan with your carrier that allows you to use a lot of GBs, you can turn on data access over mobile network from your phone's Settings (do it only when you are away from home; turn it off when you do not want to use it). Or you can try to connect to an OPEN wireless network in a public place (coffee shops, bookstores, hotels, etc.).
There are so many information left out that is almost impossible to help you out, so I'm going just post the basic on what the phone needs to use the internet or the phone's data.
First of all, you must have data with your wireless provider, which in this case your post that you do. You must be sure that your data is enable in your phone, to check this, go to settings, more, mobile network, and look for a line along Data Enable and make sure the box is checked.
Now you must make sure that your APN are set up according to your wireless provider. Example: If you are using T-Mobile as your wireless provider, then go to Settings, More, Mobile Network, APN, and scroll down to see how many are install and which one is checked. The same thing goes for any wireless provider.
Now, since there is lack of information on your behalf I can not give you, or post the exact information that your need nor how to input that information, but you can always search for it or as they say "Google it" on "How to set up APN for Samsung Dart-T499 (wireless carrier). Best of luck.
Probably the data is off, try going to Settings, More, Mobile Network, and check the Data Enable box. If you still can't get internet by enabling data, then your APN must be off. If you are still with T-Mobile, then go to Settings, More, Mobile Network, Access Point Names or APN. From here you can see which Access Point is check, troubleshoot by checking one of T-Mobile's APN and trying to use the internet without Wi-Fi.
You can delete the new settings.do this by going into settings wireless and networks click on mobile networks then access points and delete them that should stop the net coming on
Wi-Fi Question: (Phone known as) Samsung Star GT-S5233, Samsung Tocco Lite, Samsung Player One, Samsung S5233, and Samsung Avila.
Unfortunately, your phone wasn't manufactured with WLAN (Wi-Fi). As such, you cannot use a local wireless network to access the Internet with your phone. And, Wi-Fi cannot be added as an application.
Connecting to the Internet
When you turn your phone on for the first time (with the SIM card inserted), it should connect automatically to your mobile operator's data service. You can start browsing the web straight away.
Checking your current data connection settings
Your phone has been set to connect automatically to the Internet through your mobile operator's data service. If you don't get a connection automatically, check your network connection settings.
From the main Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls.
Make sure that Mobile network is turned on.
Tap Mobile network settings, and then check the following:
Automatic setup is turned on.
The name of your mobile operator is displayed in the Network operators item.
The right mobile network is displayed in the Access point names item. If it's not the right network, see your phone's user guide to find out how to add a new access point.
Turning the data connection off
You can turn off the data connection to help optimize your phone's battery life or to save money on data charges.
From the main Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless controls.
Turn the data connection off by tapping the Off/On switch of Mobile network. (Tap this switch back on if you want to connect to the Internet again.)
