Mit gha20, Windows XP Home Edition 2004. I have just installed 2 x 512MB RAM without any problems.... as far as I thought. I bought these from Offtek and was told these are what I needed. It originally had 1 x 256MB DDR PC2700 CL2.5 installed. However, the screen is black, but I can hear the laptop on when I press the On/Off switch. The battery is charging, the Fan is working etc. What have I done wrong??? Help!

Test the laptop using an external monitor
If this works fine, then the issue is with the screen, or possibly the vga cable. I notice this is referred to as a compatible screen, was this obtained new, or is it 2nd hand. Although most 15.4 screens fit most 15.4 laptops, some do not display correctly, this might be your problem. If you know the screen to be good I would suspect the connection at the back of the screen
If this still shows issues with an external monitor, you have a problem with your graphics chip on the motherboard

There is not enough info here. Many things could be wrong. Are you actually plugging the VGA cable into the VGA port on the tv or computer? Does your tv even have a VGA input? Is your tbs input switched to the tv? Please contact me with questions.

You can download the service manual from here.
Hope this helps
