With the internally zooming lens on the Z2, there's no external access to any zoom mechanisms. A "zoom error" is not eraseable until the problem has been rectified. My guess is that the camera has taken some sort of impact, which often dislodges the track in which the lens travels. Not much you can do, yourself, other than a few well-placed "taps" to realign things. Next step is to have it serviced by Fuji, but given the age of the camera, it's likely not cost effective, sorry to say.
SOURCE: Zoom error
hi i had the same problem with mine,i took the case apart but could see nothing untoward, reassembled it and just out of frustration i turned camera on if you listen carefully you will hear a whirring sound as soon as it starts turn camera off do this repatidly a few times but do not let the motor finish its cycle, hey presto no more fault. i can only assume that the motor sticks and by turning on and off really quickly frees it up...

Hi and welcome to FixYa.
First: is there a zoom error? Will it extend and retract when you turn on the camera?
