Kodak EasyShare C613 turns off when connected to PC

The camera is working fine, fresh batteries, still takes pictures. As soon as I plug in the USB cable to unload the pictures the camera turns itself off. If I click the power button it beeps but wont come on. I unplug it and it works fine.

I have the same problem and I don't agree with solution#1 given by HWYUI: "that's what is supposed to happen" because when I first used the camera and plugged the USB into the computer it worked fine. Now everytime I try this it beeps and goes black.

I was thinking of purchasing a new USB cord, but I'm just not sure. I wish someone had a better solution. Taking the memory card to CVS is getting tiresome and costly.

PC and camera working fine but as soon as I plug the camera into the computer it won't turn on.  Have checked the devices which say they are correctly installed and current.

Have a camera full of pictures and now can't download them ... frustrating

When I plug my camera into the computer it shuts off and I can't download the pics. Batteries are fine and it works when not plugged in.

The camera is supposed to go blank when connected to computer.

I hit the "share" button and can then download photos, even though screen is still blank.

The easiest and most foolproof solution is to use an external memory card reader. This will also give you faster data transfers and frees you from the need to use the manufacturers own somewhat clunky software.

My camera is a kodak C613 and even with new batteries it won't turn on. How do you download all of the pictures on to the computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Or, as in your case, won't even care whether the camera turns on at all.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

My camera is... Frozen?

The problem you describe is frequently the result of dirty/corroded battery contacts in the camera. Try removing the batteries and cleaning the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue left from the cleaning, then replace the batteries. Hopefully all will be well.

If the cleaning doesn't work you might want to check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

Pictures will not transfer to the computer.......

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
