This is a very simply fix. Your problem is you have a bad thermal fuse. This fuse can be found in the Lamp housing. You need to take the back off in order to fix this problem. Replacing the thermal is not hard, but you need to be a little handy. Part number 1-910-023-93 Average cost $9.00

It sounds like the horizontal (H stop) and vertical (V stop) has gone bad. Check Cap 515 and 516. IC1509, Q1505 and the jungle IC, IC206. You can also bring up these fault codes on-screen to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, press the following buttons: Display, Channel, 5, volume Minus, ( not plus ) then Power. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problems named, are abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.

3 times red light blinks shows that Lamp Cover is Open. Please put back lamp cover properly.
I would recommend to always replace with Original Sony Lamp and avoid aftermarket or compatible lamps.

I would suspect one or more of the miniature flourescent backlight lamps. One way to confirm this would be to power up the set with a grayscale image at 40 to 60 IRE. If one or more lamps is failing to light, a slightly darker horizontal area in the grayscale will give it away. Unfortunately, Sony will not supply any of the backlight components apart from a new LCD panel. Sorry.

Please recheck Lamp Cover and make sure it is fixed in its space securely as 3 times red blink shows lamp cover error.
There is small safety switch in TV cabinet under lamp cover that has to be pushed by lamp cover if it is fixed in its position properly. That switch is not being pressed by lamp cover and causing this error.
Thanks.

Is it possible that there is a sensor on that bulb door ? It acts as if the bulb is no good cause the bulb doesnt even light up at start then goes to the 3 blinking red light under power. where would i replace the door sensor or can it even be done ? can i override the sensor ? Thanks
Go on the internet to the company web site and see what "3 blinks" means. It's a code and it could mean anything from a door switch not completely closed to a bad ballast. Find out when the "3 blinks" mean then get back with me if you need to. Col. Dana Gillespie
