It could either be the Monitor has gone bad, the video card in your tower, or the cable connecting the two, the orange light signifies that the system is not getting the signal from the tower. Try replacing the VGA cable, if this is not an option try using the monitor on a different computer, if still no picture then the monitor is no good, if you get a picture try a second monitor with your desktop. If you get no picture then it is time for a new motherboard or graphics card. As far as replacing the cable if it is one piece with the monitor, it isn't recommended unless you a very comfortable opening the monitor up, in which case you risk causing more damage.

The ORANGE light indicates "power-saving" mode -- when no "output" from a video-card is being detected, the screen will dim itself. Try a different monitor. Try a different video-card in your computer. Try your monitor on a different computer.

I assume that you already try this monitor on another PC to verify that the problem is in the monitor, in this case you need to open it up and inspect the fuse, transitors, solder connections on the power/inverter board, see failed Dell monitors here for guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Make sure you press either 1 or 2 on the monitor to switch from vga to dvi

u place your speaker near the monitor or any magnetic type devices so keep it away.still if u have pbm check your picture tube or lcd screen

When you plug in the monitor no lights come on at all green, orange nothing ?
Try
1. Using a new power cord ( maybe something is wrong with it)
2. Plugging it into a new socket on the wall.

If you can't get power to the monitor at all you may be in for buying a new one.

Are the settings on the video output correct? Is there a green or orange light illuminated. There is a difference between the Power LED and the Signal LED which is green. If you have no signal the LED will remain orange or yellow but not green. If the LED is green, then a signal is getting from the PC but not necessarily good. Check the signal with another monitor or TV if you can. Check the cable.
