The simplest way to repair it is to take it to a local cell phone repair shop and let them do it for about $35 to $50. I would determine first if that is worth the phone to do so.. If not, it may be more economical for you to just buy another phone.

I know this link is old but the same problem happened today to my new device a s4 I tried to update the device and the update program stopped halfway through.I tried this several times and each time after the program stopped dead halfway through I pressed the cancel button and followed onscreen prompts, I then noticed that the device would not respond and was just a dead piece of kit.It seems that it was still in DFU mode(update mode)and needed the software to install an update to get it to work again. It seems that the problem could be how the device reacts to the type of motherboard I have on my PC.BluAnt mention issues with ASUS boards on their site wioth another device. at the office. So after dozens of tries to get the s4 to update using the downloaded updater from Blueant, I went into Windows Explorer and found the directory 'BluAnt Universal Updater' I copied the directory to my memory stick and then took it home. On my PC at home I copied over the BAUU directory. Downloaded and ran the updater program ....and.....it installed the update within a couple of minutes. It seems that the update program downloads the update to a directory within the BAUU directory and also places a 'Backup' directory there from your device, so if a problem occurs you can tell the updater program to update from a file on your hard drive. Please pass this 'fix' on.
