Monitor settings screen keeps popping up

It had 4 buttons on the front of the monitor that had to do with the settings. (Exit, sunshine symbol, circle with line down the middle symbol, and Menu) and i ripped the button's covers off and used tweezers to fiddle the actual buttons around and it's gotten to where now it isn't up constantly but it still pops up randomly every now and again, and sometimes it'll go away instantly but sometimes it'll stay until i fiddle with it again. Sometimes it's annoying, how can i permanently fix this problem?

SOURCE: Menu randomly pops up while pushing no buttons....

It sounds like an issue with the power button board and I would certainly make use of the warranty option.

SOURCE: menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.

SOURCE: config screen keeps popping up

A friend of mine had the exact same same problem. I think I fixed it, because it has been 2 hours, without the menu popping up. You need to open the monitor:

- Place it face-down on a flat surface
- Remove the cover of the hinge by gripping it with both hands and gently squeezing and pulling.
- Undo the 4 screws and remove the stand (base)
- Undo the four screws tha hold the cover down (4 corners)
- Use a flat screwdriver to seperate the 2 halves (I used 2, a small one to lift the back, a bigger one for leverage)

You will see a small PCB, fastened by 3 screws, at the bottom (where your menu+on/off buttons are) with a ribbon connection to the screen. Next:

- Unscrew the PCB, and gently lift it out.
- Clean the microswitches and the ribbon cable connection.
- Reassemble the monitor.

To clean microswitches and the connection, I used Kontakt Video 90 spray. There must be sprays on the market where you are. It's basically an alcohol-based cleaning spray. Good for cleaning video/tape/floppy heads, CD/DVD lenses, memory modules, etc.

Good luck!

1. Push the menu button at the front side of your Dell monitor. The icon looks look like a miniature version of your monitor.

2. Push the menu button again. This will exit the monitor menu and launch the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu.

3. Use the down arrow button on your monitor to select "Factory Reset."

4. Push the menu button.

5. Use the down arrow button to select "All Settings." Press the menu button to save changes.

Sounds like the monitor menu is popping up. If so, it is not your computer but the monitor that is causing the problem. Is the monitor menu button stuck?

Stupid padlock/main menu keeps opening and closing DELLe152fp

That is the OSD (On Screen Display) system built-in to your computer monitor. Check that when you hit the ON/OFF button on your monitor, that you do *NOT* hit the 'OSD ON/OFF' button.

Most of the time, the OSD will disappear after 10 seconds of "non-use".

My monotor its all black but u can

This should be an (LCD) screen. They are the ones that usually have this kind of problem. You will need to take it to have it checked if the problem is the VGA signal cable leading to the monitor. They will check if it is properly connected or has gone bad. It is very unlikely that the screen is bad. When this VGA signal cable goes bad it could result in a totally blank screen.
