Whenever i turn off my Garmin 60CSx it makes this buzzing sound and it wont turn back on or stop buzzing until i take out the batteries and put them back in. I really need help with this fast, i have tried redownloading the new firmware with no luck.
This problem is Mac OSX related and can be solved using Cleaneject http://www.javawa.nl/cleaneject_en.html
The OSX operating system creates several invisible files and folders on USB-disks, camera's and GPS devices and the Garmin GPS devices can't cope with these invisible files and folders.
Cleaneject erases the invisible files and folders.
My unit would make a non stop beep... not sure if same as buzzing described above. I was told to reformat my memory card but before doing so I looked at it with a file browser and found three files there that did not belong. Some sort of system files put there, no doubt, my my Mac when I plugged it in to copy out all my track files. I deleted the three Mac files, put the card back into the unit, and all is good. Would be great if Garmin recognized that there is another OS out there.
I had a similar problem when I upgraded to 3.90. First, after upgrading, my gps would not restart. Just by chance, I took the SD card out and the unit started up without problems.
When I put the SD card back in, the unit would shut off, but would make the buzzing sound you describe until I removed a battery.
Finally, I completely reformatted the SD card and reloaded all of my maps. This seemed to take care of the problem.
Hello. Downgrade to the firmware to 3.70. It works for me !

download and install : GPSMAP60Cx_370.exe
When reformatting the card what format do you use? Fat32?

Same exact problem - just picked this thing up yesterday ---used "5 times"--- was new in June. What's weird is that it didn't do it every time until I put new firmware in it a couple hours ago...it did do it at random before that.
I'm going to try to get the reciept from the guy and hope to send in for a new one at best....anyone else see this problem?
