I got the tv working again by replacing 7 capacitors per posting here. Tv worked fine until last night. I watched the picture degrade slowly to a black screen. The first thing I noticed was the screen looked like a blueish haze then yellowish with picture getting darker. Took about 5 to 10 minutes. Do lamps need replacing?
This unit does not have a lamp, but 3 CRT's. Odds of all three tubes failing at once is very remote. I would look at the voltages that run to your CRT boards and see if they are low or have a load. You should also check your circuit boards on the bottom of set to see if the CRT's have been leaking glycol. If the board looks wet ot corroded, you are dead in the water.

take the screen off by unscrewing all screws around back of tv. remove panel with a sticker that says " no user serviceable parts inside" remove both screws on each side of screen at bottom with black tabs. there will be 2 screws behind the panel with the sticker on it and unplug the front panel buttons connector. then clean the small mirror with very soft cloth maybe nice cotton t-shirt. be very careful not to scratch the face of the mirror. i would recommend ussing just the cloth but have found isopropyl alcohol to work well if you need to use any liquid.

Make sure that the lamp cage is seating well .. then make sure the door is closed properly. there is a door switch and if the door dont close right the switch may be telling the set the lamp is out.

2,2 is short protection.
98% chance the fuse or fuses (there are two 5 amp pico fuses) that protect the convergence circuit are blown. If you find F9AO4 OR F9AO5 on that board check them--if either is open the STK-393-110 DID IT.
Fairly short life for this chip if it was installed correctly and had heat sink compound applied to it--once in a while you get a bad one.

The WS-55859 does not have a "Lamp" it is a 2001 rear projection set with three picture tubes.
Have (if this is the correct model) you tried the self check this set has?
Also do you have this problem on all inputs--tuner, and various rear inputs?
