Does this 3 times, then lights go out....stops for good then....a timer? control board?
You have one of 3 problems.
1. a bad door switch
2. a bad connection under the dishwasher
3. a bad control

Have you solved the problem? My dishwasher is also a KitchenAid and has exactly the same problem...

My washer is a mdb7600aww. It starts and stops 3 times and then shuts down. It did this once before. I cleaned it out under the cutter etc. and it ran correctly. I did not see anything during the clean out that I thought would stop it from running.
