My washer is a mdb7600aww. It starts and stops 3 times and then shuts down. It did this once before. I cleaned it out under the cutter etc. and it ran correctly. I did not see anything during the clean out that I thought would stop it from running.

Maytag Neptune washer motor/motor control circuit board ... my board just fried - is your washer still working? wondering how longthe conversion fix will last. ... Other times it will run a completecycle without any malfunctions.
Check voltage supply to the timer, make sure power is still supplying the timer motor when the water shuts off, at which time if the timer motor is powered will close the next set of contacts and start the wash cycle. Make sure you have the correct timer. Also check the safety switch for the lid, if the lid does not close that switch or if its bad, the wash cycle will not start.
yes it would be the timer but they also stop if it gets off balance if its just off balance u should be able to lift the lid rearrange then start it again if that doesnt work it is the timer
