I was just given a 7yr old plasma tv and was told it powers on but doesn't show a picture. It just shows random color pixels mostly on the right side of the screen. It looks like a 8 panel grid that you can tell by pixel lines separating the sections of the screen. Any solution for this?

some of these panels were mis-calibrated from the factory after not aging long enough. Let the TV run for atleast 2 hours and adjust the Vs and Vscan voltages. When it is blue in the left I have found generally the Vs is about 10 volts too high.

I had the same problem and solved it with a factory reset. hold menu button dowm for 10 seconds and it will alow you to reset all the colors.

There may be a failure starting in the matrix drive board, or in the display itself. The area of failure can be verified with proper troubleshooting by swapping modules. These sets are mainly serviced by swapping modules, and then calibrating as required.
Considering the age of the set parts and modules may be difficult to find. Also, these sets are fairly expensive to service. Because of the age of the set reliability will be low even after service.
I would be seriously considering that it is time to start shopping for a new set when the fault becomes intolerable.

You may have failing T-CON board or it is not getting clean 12vdc feeding it.
