The TV power button on the remote supplied with my Digital Stream dtx9950 has stopped working. It no longer switches off the power to the TV (a 14 year old, 25" Zenith), though the button did work until a few days ago. 1) Is it likely a hardware problem? 2) Can other remotes be used with the DTS converter box.

It sounds that your digital stream box have to be re-tuned. If the tuning is out, this kind of fault can occur. just do a hard reset to this box, before doing a re-tune. To make it a hard reset, just unplug the device from AC mains wall socket, and then replug it back after 15 minutes or so. The device will reset itself.
