Thanks Zohail for your comment.
======================================================
My friend Juan Carlos asked me to check his laptop.
Captioned laptop was checked/inspected by two technicians and no one get it to work.
======================================================
Fault Description.

After 3 months of use. The wireless mini-card fails. No wireless connection can be made.
Randomly the laptop fails to boot up. Black screen and power led (blue lights) on.
Owner took out the battery module and reset the laptop according user manual instructions. He got it to work a couple of times until the laptop was un-responsive at all.

======================================================
I goggle the Laptop model number and the fault description and plenty entries showed up. Faulty motherboard, short guarantee from HP, etc…
I found the service manual from this series and I decided to verify if the motherboard was really damaged.
Prior a full dismantling I reset the bios by disconnecting the CRT battery. I made an other test: the machine starts the boot sequence, read from DVD, later pass to hard drive, the hard drive led blinks a couple the times and that’s all. After a period of time the laptop shut downs itself and reboots again….black screen ….nothing……..
======================================================
I tear down the laptop (according service manual instructions), check all boards and I did not find any sign of damaged component or over-heating.
I took special care during the dismantling, I let the CRT battery in place (motherboard) but I disconnect every thing. Everybody must be aware that this particular mobo has a
small switch (identical to the power switch). Captioned switch can no be accessed from outside (you have to dismantle the computer in order to see it). I took a ball pen and press this switch for five seconds (twice). I assembled back the laptop and make a test in order to see if starts. The machine boots and the set up screen came up. “ Press F1 to continue… I press F1 and the start sequence complete….
===========================================================
I found that the power settings in Power Profile (HP Recommended) was 2% in critical battery (too low in my opinion)
Conclusion: the machine is working; the only thing that I could not get to work was the wireless min-card. I reload the drivers but probably the mini-card is faulty.

I hope that this solution helps.

Pls first check thru connecting normal pc Monitor as output from notebook see if monitor displays image if it doesnt then , do following

u should try replacing RAM if the system is not booting at all just fan is running and some light are blinking , then RAM is most likely giving problem try re fitting RAM , if u dont know how to let me know i will give u a tutorial for that . try taking out the RAM chips and then re fitting them individually i mean if u have 2 chips of suppose 512 mb each try one of them at a time

first take out both RAM chips and then re fit both and see if it works, if it doesnt then

try each one of them at a time se if u find the faulty one if it doent help then try a thrid one borrow it from someone and try but ur laptop needs to be same generation one u can ask me about the RAM model support and then try if it helps

other wise let me know

i will see more deep in the problem but i think it will resolve ur problem

pls rate me fixya if i fixed ur job
regards

    I am having display failure as well. I connected to a external monitor and the display worked there. This tells me that the RAM, display drivers, graphics card and other components are working properly. The question is what do I do now? What do I need to do if connecting to an external PC works?

I have exactly the same problem. I have a 17 inch HP Pavillion dv9000. The wireless card stoped working first, and after a few months I get a black screen when system enter screen-saver mode and it never gets back from it. If shut down, it keeps booting in a loop, sometimes with the HP setup screen sometimes without, but it does not load Windows in more that 20 times, then of of a sudden it starts. The sign that I know it will not get into the HP setup page is when the SD card light keeps on at the boot. If the SD card light turns off at the boot, the HP setup will appear but it may not load Windows. Perhaps after 20 or more times, it will start Windows. The temporary solution now is when it loads successfully, I disable all screen mode features and keep the computer on non stop.

Dv 9000 what lcd fits it

1) 17 inch WXGA (1440 X 900 Pixels)

Here's an example;

http://www.screentekinc.com/HP_Pavilion_DV9000_Series_DV9009NR--17-inch--1440x900-wxgaplus-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml

Another one;

http://www.pcpartsltd.com/hp-pavilion-dv9000-screen-170inch-lcd-screen-p-1791.html?zenid=ihi8on44ad0gdnuab8ipt2ujb5

MAIN THING > Match the Part Number on the back of the LCD screen to the one you are going to purchase.

It isn't just whether the screen is the correct size, and dimensions. Whether it is a glossy finish, or matte.
It is that the cabling on the back of the LCD screen is correct, and the LCD screen matches the Inverter that is installed.

My hp pavilion dv9000 17 power on but see black screen

If your 9000 is under two years old, you should contact HP customer care and have unit serviced under warranty.
HP has had allot of problems with the 6000 and 9000 units and in response has offered an additional year from date of purchase.
Its worth a shut. Doesn't cost a dime.
Hope this information has helped you.

My hp pavillion dv9000's hinge broke. But I was able to use it after. Then I tried to close it..and it just shut off and it will not come on. I want to know what I can do to fi it

HP *had* issued service alert 08112101 which covers the left display hinge failure.
HP Notebook Left Display Hinge Program
HP Pavilion Notebook
model series affected: dv9000, dv9100, dv9200, dv9400.

This program recently ended on May 31, 2009, but HP may still allow for a grace period.

Otherwise, you'll need the following:
Display panel back panel enclosure (single lamp) 432957-001
Display hinge kit (single lamp) 432963-001
LCD bezel w/ webcam (single lamp) 432955-001

Trained pro's should be able to do this in about 20mins, there is partial lower case disassembly and complete LCD housing dis/re-assembly.

I have an HP DV9074CL Pavilion laptop that won't boot

I bought mine in April 2007. This happened June of last year and they replaced it for free. It just happened again 2 nights ago and HP won't do anything. My fiance called them and got a case manager and said that they design their laptops to work for only 2 years to which I say if it's designed to work for 2 years, shouldn't my motherboard still be working? After this experience and numerous other problems I have had with this laptop, I am never buying an HP product again.

HP dv9000

 Hello jarkk, I believe your problem is with your backlight inverter. the hard drive should be installed for this process of checking it on an external monitor. with the hard drive removed it will not boot to the operating system. with the drive in, use the external monitor. if the monitor works when plugged into the external monitor plug, this will eliminate a bad video card. if the screen is still black on the laptop screen, replace your backlight inverter. the last case cenario is to make sure your backlights are not burnt out.
