My canon rebel xti is broken?

I've had my camera about a year now. I went to take new pictures and noticed that as I tried to review the pictures I took, the pictures were just black screens. I tested the camera by checking through the viewfinder and the auto focus and everything seemed fine. Every time I take a new picture, the picture is just a black screen. My CF card is okay as well. Is the problem the camera body or the lens?

This will happen if you have the camera set to manual and the aperture/shutter speed combination does not let in enough light. There's a wheel on the top of the camera with M, A, S, P, Auto settings - turn the wheel to select P or Auto and try again.
Also, if you're indoors, you may have to use the flash.

How do you get to the video mode on the canon 400d rebel xti

There is no video mode on the Xti. The first Canon Digital Rebel to be equipped with video was the T1i, which came out almost 5 years later (2 years ago).

Help! Cracked LCD display on Canon Rebel xti

Had the same problem myself, I purchased a new lcd from ebay (user name: ProphotoSD). He has tons of factory LCD's, cost around 90$. Please note that if you cracked the clear cover above the lcd that is a separate piece however it wont effect the lcd working (this piece is also replaceable). Then I found a simple tutorial for disassembling the camera body on google. Took me like 25 min, very simple job, just need a very small phillips head screw driver. Hope this helps!

New canon eos digital rebel xti

There have been several reports of CF cards that work with all cameras, except the Rebel XTi. It depends on the actual manufacturer of the card. Canon made a change mid-production that affected the data saving. Try another brand of card & you should not have that problem any more.

LCD screen not working

You will be pleased to hear there is nothing wrong with your camera, that's the way it is I'm afraid, there is no live preview on most dSLR's except the most recent, most expensive models..

It took me a while to get used to the idea after using compacts for a few years, but we were quite happy with the viewfinders on our film SLR's...

Happy snappin

Built-in flash does not work

DO NOT MESS with a new camera (or any other new equipment).
Take/send it back to the vendor, The purchaser has rights also. Number one it must work.
I don't know your location but in UK (& Europe) we have very strict consumer legislation.
