I can get ice cubes but my ice crusher has stopped working.
i can toggle from cubes to crush and vice versa and the lights work but i do not get any crused ice.
what can i do to fix it?
GE side by side Profile TPS24PPBABS. Ice dispenser works in cube mode but not in crushed mode. The light comes on when I push the button but the auger doesn't turn. I checked the solenoid, it works fine and the bar from the ice dispense is correctly positioned within the acutator. In the crush mode the motor doesn't even hum, so it's not jammed or anything. Any suggestions?

The solenoid has nothing to do with the crusher mechanism. Rather it delivers water to the ice tray when empty. Check that the ice door closes completely after ice is dispensed otherwise frost can build up in the crusher blades and prevent them from moving into position. Otherwise, check for a worn out part that connects to the blades and would prevent them from articulating.
Several possibilities, but check first for cubes that are too small (means too little water is coming in during ice maker fill) and those cubes fracture into smaller bits when they are dispensed.
Another possibility is the cube/crushed plate inside the dispenser is stuck. This is a curved plastic piece that lies next to the crusher blades inside the dispenser head of the ice storage bin. For cubes this place must be retracted (swing away from) the crushed fingers to allow the cubes to pass without being broken up.
You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. The crush position is without the solenoid energized. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
The button which selects cubes versus crushed controls a solenoid which engages/disengages the crusher. If the mechanisms which crush and push the ice from the chute are all clean, free of ice, etc., then the solenoid is not working. It either has loose/dirty connections or the solelnoid is bad.
Make sure that your ice tray is properly instaled. There is a rod that must go into a hole. When you select ice cubes rather than crushed ice a solenoid raises which moves that rod. It then opens a flap so the cubes can bypass the crusher. Either your rod is not in the hole correctly or the solenoid has gone bad. The rod that I am speaking of runs along the underside of the ice tray. It has a spring on the rear end that holds the bypass flpa closed.
We had thought this was a free service...??? Yes, we fixed it ourselves, after trial and error. We pulled out the ice bin and there is an arm that is moves back and forth beside it. It had frozen up. That is the ice crusher. Thaw it out and it is fixed. By the way, the above posting was not by us--ours stated that our ice crusher did not crush ice anymore. Instead, cubes came out...
There is a little bar that is on the ice bucket. That bar has to go into the middle of the plastic square that is on the back wall of the freezer. Try Pulling out the ice bucket, get a hair dryer and run the hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer right above the hole where that little bar goes. After you run the hair dryer for about 10 minutes or so put your finger in the hole and pull down on the plastic square. Make sure when you put the ice bucket back in the freezer, the bar goes inside the square hole, not under it, not over it. In it. If that doesn't fix the problem you probably just need a new solenoid. Part number 5304404333
