Motor spins but blade doesn't

If there is a shaft sleeve available from Kitchen Aid you will need to replace that and most likely the chopping blade if there is any damage up inside it.

Kitchenaid wont start

The possible problems could be in no real order>>>
1. your power outlet in your house
2 the power cord to the mixer broken or shorted
3 the speed control plate inside the mixer needs adjusting or replaced
4 the carbon brushes inside the motor head of the mixer need replaced
5 the armature a motor part
6 the stator a motor part
The first four are easy fixes the last two will require a full tear down. but there are lots of things to test first. let us know.

Hi Emma,
Not going to be much help here to be honest. We have the KM020 and this is the only problem we have had with heavy machine use in 4 years - and a minor issue at that.
This place is good for spare parts http://www.buyspares.co.uk/

If you're in the UK, you can call this number 02392 392 333 and give them your post code, they'll let you know who the local service agent is.

The mixer simply doesn't turn on. Worked fine yesterday. Today it seems like it's just dead

HI.Let me jusk ask if yiou also tried to connet to another socket.Let me just clarify that the motor itself did not work /rotate as well.Prior to that situation, have you tried to mix more than what is the capacity of your mixer. If possible motor was overworked/that's why its coil was burnt.There. are possibilities then. First might be that the mixers terminals inside will no longer engaged properly that's why it opens the circuit.Second the motor isn't working because the rotor and armatures coil was burnt because it runs beyond its maximum wattage capacity that's why it draws much current beyond the rotors coil capacity.Did you mixed something heavy.the motor works heavier the last time you used the unit?

I have a Kitchen Aid k45ss that was dropped a few years ago. I works fine but the speed switch doesn't want to stay in the off position so we have to unplug it. I opened the unit and the switch...

When you said "the speed switch doesn't want to stay in the off position", you meant to
say "the speed switch in the OFF position does not turn OFF the mixer", or "the speed
switch physically cannot be moved to the OFF position"?

In any case, try to adjust the mixer speeds.
Obtain a copy of the K45SS Repair Part List from Kitchenaid.com.
Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate.
All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must be adjusted.

1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.
3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".
4. Turn each top screw One full turn couterclockwise (alternating between Left and Right)
Keep making one full turn at the time (for both left and right) until the motor starts running.
5. Put your hand near the Agitator shaft and allow it to brush your finger slightly. Use your
watch or clock and start counting the number of times the shaft touches your finger in
60 seconds. The correct count should be 60 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). If it is less
or more than 60, give each screw 1/4 turn counterclockwise or clockwise and start counting
again. Now tighten both lock nuts.
6. Set the speed selector to "6" and turn the bottom screw either clockwise or counterclockwise
to achieve a speed of 180 RPM.

For your reference, the planetary RPM's for the 5-qt. tilt-head Artisan Stand Mixer are as follows:
Stir speed - 60
Speed 2 - 95
Speed 4 - 135
Speed 6 - 180
Speed 8 - 225
Speed 10 - 280
