A loss of water supply to the refrig could cause this problem. check the fill tube that supplies water to the icemaker (this is the tube that omes into the rear of the icemaker) i think you will find it is frozen up. you can clear this out wiht a hair dryer. I just looked at a diagram for the model number you provided and the fill tube is the black tube that comes into the fill cup on the far right hand side of the icemaker. you will have to raise the icemaker door to see it. but heating this and clearing the ice will fix it thanks peyton

Changed water filter, now no water coming out of dispenser and not making ice making ice

It's possible it was installed improperly.... try removing it and re-installing. May have a filter that is clogged... only way to determine this is to replace it with another new one.

Why is my GE (ZFSB23D SS) side by side refrigerator leaking at the back corner, near the rear wheel where the plastic water line goes in?

If the tubing is plastic it could have cracked when you moved the tubing to install the filter. If the tubing is OK then possinly the filter isn't all the way in or is leaking.

Ice smells bad

You can leave the fridge turned on but make sure you shut off the water and put a container under the filter when you remove is as there will be water that will try to go everywhere. Any filters are external so if you had to add one there won't be any others to change, Make sure you flush the new filter to the instructions when it is replaced.

Ice machine isn't working

Two things come to mind.

First, the water valve at the bottom rear of the refrigerator may have failed. You didn't mention if there is a water dispenser and whether or not this is still working. This valve pumps water to the icemaker and water dispenser when the control unit of the icemaker calls for water. Also, there could be a blockage in the line which brings the water to the icemaker.

The other possibility is that the part of the icemaker controls which calls for water from the valve has failed. If this has happened, it would likely be more cost effective to replace the icemaker unit.

FROZEN WATER FILTER - UNRELIABLE TEMPERATURES

About the dual water control valve the side that feeds the ice maker could be defective. Fill the ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If it dumps and does not refill the water control valve will need replaced. Here is a link to the water control valve.

Fridge is one week old both water and ice have a metalic taste. My old fridge had no problem. The only change was I went from copper tubing to plastic.

You probably shook lose sediments that collected in your old water line. Flush as often as you can and the taste will dissipate soon. In other words; run the dickens out of the water and use up the ice to flush it out completely. You might also be tasting the newness of the ice maker and related components. Flush, flush, flush. Also helpful is to clean thoroughly with baking soda everything you can get to.

Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City
Welcome

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,
HUUUM!!

I have a GE Monogram fridge with the integrated ice maker system. It quit making ice about a week ago. I have cleaned it out, but it will no longer make ice. Is there anything I need to try before I give...

Icemakers=troublemakers. About 9 of 10 failures occur there first.
You didn't state whether the water supply is still present or the motor that drives the eject mechanism is still trying to turn.

Check your water supply at the rear of the unit to see if it is getting any, and change any filter through which the supply water flows.
