Kaivenice this a SIM lock, your device is locked by your network operator, so contact service provider of sim which was working there, to unlock for you (with service provider this service is free), if it is not possible show some official repairer to unlock it. Bes of luck, if my answer was helpful please rate it.
To Enable Answer/End Call by flipping open / close the lid you have to enable it in the phone menus. Surprisingly it's not in settings ( where it used to be on older Motorola phones).
This happens when the number of rings to answer of the provider voicemail is less than the number of rings to answer that the answer machine is set for. For example: if your provider voicemail rings to answer is set for 3 rings and the answer machine is set for 4 rings then the voicemail answers before the 4th ring, therefore the answer machine will never get a message. I would call the service provider's customer service number and request they increase the rings to answer above the number of rings to answer that the answer machine is set for. If you don't want voicemail to answer any calls(when your line is busy or when the answer machine is turned off) ask your service provider to disable voicemail.
If you want to use a different answer machine just run the phone line from the wall to the machine you want to use. Be sure you plug in the cord that say's "Line". Then use another cord that will plug into the answer machine that say's "phone". Plug that other end into your phone and be sure to turn the answer machine off on the phone. Good luck.
What you need to do is set the number of rings before answer on the phone to a number greater than the number of rings it takes before AT&T answers (for example, set AT&T to answer after 4 rings and the phone to answer after 5). Some phones have switches on them that allow you set the number of rings. Some make you set the number through their software. Look on the body of the phone, particularly the sides, for that switch and set it to the biggest number it offers.
