Repeatedly attempted to install Epson V600 on Windows Vista system (also tried Windows 7). Control panel shows good install, but no matter what I try, when I try to scan, I get a message that says the computer cannot communicate with the scanner. Anyone have any luck fixing this?

To be honest, I have no idea of how you were able to scan larger transparencies in the past. The scanner and its software were never designed to do this and there is no workaround.
