SOURCE: LG ELECTRIC DRYER

Henry, its going to be 1 of 2 things. Check inside your drum, see if the vent in the rear has burning or discoloration around it. If it does, it sounds as if your vent is restricted causing the unit to overheat, so clean/fix/replace the venting and your support pulleys will need to be repalce ie flat spots from overheat. If there is no scoarching marks and you know its not the vent or heat issue, the drum seam may have parted causing the thump as every revolution is made.

SOURCE: My LG Tromm dryer is taking two cycles to dry clothes.

make sure that the vent system is clear all the way to the outside. I've seen bird nest in these vents as well as just plain lint build up.
You should feel alot of air coming out when the dryer is running.

SOURCE: lg tromm dryer electric cooling light staying on

I called LG after seeing this light as well and they say it's supposed to stay on and should "blink" at the end of the cycle. I've never remembered this light staying on in all the years of owning this machine but she (LG rep) said it was normal. Otherwise, if you've checked everything and it's not drying clothes, you may need to have your dryer serviced. :(

Clothes aren't getting dry

Check your vent hose and where it exits the building, clean away all lint anything blocking the vent cap or in the vent hose. Remove the vent from the back of the dryer and make sure it is all clean and clear there and make sure the betn is not kinked up when putting the dryer back into it space. Now before you blow me off, if any of this is true for your dryer the heat will build up and trip the thermostat causing it not to heat properly and the blower wheel can not move the air to collect the moisture and remove it from inside the dryer. Also, any sagging vent line can collect moisture which turns to a puddle of water in the line and this to will not allow your dryer to dry the clothes. Good luck I hope I have helped you.

You will need to remove the top of your dryer and inspect the belt tensioner. If the idler roller has a bad bearing and sticks the roller will get a flat spot causing the noise you are hearing

LG TROMM DRYER DLE5977 Burning Smell

It is a POS dryer, we have the same one. My suggestion get another dryer. We vacuumed it all out (don't you have a problem with the lint catcher?) Then it started loud pounding noise, which a lot of people seem to have the same problem, then our sensor went out and we had to dry the clothes 5-10 x's...now crack in stainless steel drum and is chewing up all our expensive clothes!
