Door stops make a very loud clicking noise when opened 1/2 way, same noise when closing from fully opened
SOURCE: 1999 clk 320 driver door makes loud clicking noise
tony i'm assuming you on about the little bar/plate about an inch wide which seems to rattle about when you open the door??? This is i suppose the check strap and it is designed to hold the door open while not letting the door go too far and become hingebound, bending the hinge and possible damaging the door panel. If it is making a clicking noise it may need a bit of lubrication as it will go over some kind of ball or ridghe to slow it down. If it is completely loose it may be catching something inside the door, possibly the window frame guide or the internal skin of the door. check the mounting bolts on the door post and in the resess on the door and tighten them up and lubricate the rod. You may need to remove internal door skin, window switches etc to get to it. what ever you do do not remove it altogether, as one day the wind may catch it and take the door right around 180 degree causing serious damage, they are not designed to stop the door completely and can stretch if the wind does catch it so check it for damage to as it could effect the door hinges later on

SOURCE: MY 2001 subaru forester sunroof is not closing completely
does the sunshade open and close properly, you should only be able to move this when the sunroof is closed it should move freely back and forth,if it doesn't this part is causing the noise, its off its track
SOURCE: clicking noise on door hinge
there is a plastic piece that slides in the center of the door hing if you look close it will be broke or cracked in half. That is what is causing the noise.

If you are so inclined, you can remove and disassemble the actuator - where you'll find a gear inside with a couple broken off teeth. Just pull the gear off its shaft and rotate a half turn... and reinstall. Reassemble the whole thing and voila! Just like new... at least until those teeth break. WARNING... it helps to have smaller hands to get up in there and you will have to acquire just the right wrench (5/32", I think) to fit the screws on the actuator. This can all be done through the glovebox opening with some patience, despite what the official repair manual says. Good luck, KRK
SOURCE: BA Falcon 'door open' light is on, can't lock
Hi I have the same problem on my BA XT Falcon
Strangely it only happens after it's rained on my car (usually overnight) I then notice that the drivers lock is up and will not lock again until a nice sunny day comes and I leave all doors wide open for hours and hours!! Then all of a sudden once closing all doors normally the little dash door light turns off, and I can again lock the doors
?
Since it rained all last night here, guess what? It happened again!
So I've checked everywhere and cleaned and you name it, but nothing, I'm positive that when a warm sunny day comes again though, all will be ok.
Most annoying issue ever.
Where is this tiny bit of water that's causing this?
And which door?? Can I just disconnect one door at a time? I don't know it's driving me crazy!!!!
