Matag washer may be leaking, esp when in use.

There is water on the floor around where my washer and water heater is located. The WH pan is dry so I suspect the washer is leaking. I have claened up the water so I can determine where the water is coming from. If it's the washer (a Matag), how should I figure out what needs to be done with it. Is there troubleshooting information available specifically for my Matag?

Remove the front panel from the washer. Fill the tub with water and then set it for spin.
Look for water coming from the machine. If so, report back as to where the water is coming from.
If no water is coming from the machine......
While the water is pumping out, look at the drain line in the wall and see if it backs up.
If so, call a plumber to clean your drain lines.

Water leaks on floor, where isthe defrost drain pan? the manual indicates that water might build up in drain pan, the connections with the ice maker are all dry.

The drain pan is usually located closest to the floor - behind the kick space or toe space grill at the bottom of the fridge. Most often the water that collects in it is evaporated by the heat generated by the compressor and airflow from condenser fan located close to the pan.

Make sure the water is coming from the defrost drain hose - not from water sources elsewhere in the fridge (leaking water / melting ice into the fresh food compartment, etc.). If found, take action to correct.

Good luck!

1. Have you been using your heater and is the smell sticky sweet? If so you're heater core might be leaking.

2. Have you been using you're A/C? If so you may have a clogged or disconnected condensation drain.

Water on flour of water heater

If your water tank is leaking, is it dripping from above or actually leaking thru the bottom?. Can you find the source? Feel around and try to find wet spots above and around it. If it's not leaking from the water pipes or T&P valve, it's your tank leaking. You'd be wise to have it checked out in the morning, before it gets worse. Hopefully your catch pan has a pipe attached to divert water to the outside or to a sump pump or floor drain. Water heaters do sweat, but you can tell the difference if it continues to leak for several hours.
