Two of my burners are clicking even when the stove is off. what should I do?

There is a switch that slides onto the shaft for each burner. When you turn the knob to a certain area it completes the circuit to the ignitor module. It sounds like you have a shorted switch. Unfortunately with most 'cooktops', these are not easy to get to.

It's also strange that only 2 are igniting, usually one module runs all the ignitors. When you turn one of the non-problem burners on, does it click when it supposed to and stop when it's supposed to?

The ignitors running constantly is annoying and may damage the module, but should not be dangerous unless you have other issues, ie., fuel leaks.

If you have access to basic hand tools and a multimeter I can walk you through the diagnosis.

The igniters are constantly clicking after cleaning the cooker. What can I do to stop the clicking?

This a coomon problem thaty occurs when you clean the "cooker". Residue from cleaning products may be preventing the ignitor from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. If you are able, clean the ignitor and adjust it. f you have too much space between the ignitor and the base of the burner, it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the ignitor. Good luck

My GE Profile JPG636 cooktop has an ignitor problem. It clicks constantly, and all the ignitors on all 5 burners are 'going off'. It happens every 8 or 10 seconds whether we're cooking or not. If anyone...

The most common cause for this issue is from liquid getting into the ignition system for the range. If someone has spilled water or other liquids into the burner knobs or the ignition system it will cause an electrical short in the system causing the igniters to come on constantly when the knobs are off. The fix to this is to unplug the range and wait 24 hours for the liquids to dry up. You can speed up this process with a hair dryer pointed at the burner stems(knobs removed). Once the liquids have dried up the problem should stop. I would not leave it plugged in until then because the ignition system could be damaged from the constant sparking.

ALL THE BURNERS ARE IGNITING WITH THE KNOBS IN THE OFF POSITION.

Most common is either your spark modual is bad or one of your ignitor switches is shorted.

More information will be needed to help you further

Suddenly I hear a constant 'clicking' sound from the Maytag csg7000 cook top which I am not using right now. It's like it's trying to ignite by itself. What could be a problem?

usually this is a problem with one or more of your ignitor switches, they are found below the selector switches, below the top, if you take off the selectors you might even be able to see them,
these are what sends voltage to you ignitor, from the spark module, one one goes bad, they all tend to spark, because light one light all....

this link wil take you right to the part i suggest,
as well as be able to order it

since this happens alot after a boil over i would start with one of the front two burners,,,, you can order one and keep replacing them with the next till the clicking stops

Ignitors are igniting on their own

they are not lighting they are sparking on there own right? No actual flame? if they are sparking on there own you need a new spark module.

Spark ignitors on gas stovetop wont stop sparking

Make sure yo haven't spilled liquid on the ignitor becuase this will cuase all ignitors to spark constantly. If all is dry, the spark module must be replaced.
