I am looking for a diagram of the internal workings of my Harman Kardon CDR2 recorder/player. I've already asked a question on here about the problem, which is the left tray will not open unless I have a CD in the tray. If I could find the parts diagram then I could order or go get the part I needed. Thanks for your help gang!

It's the belt from the spindle motor to the gear. It's worn and can't grip the spindle anymore. If you elp it to start off it works. Open the unit, remove the cd tray and it's underneath at the front. You can replace with a similar size elastic band.

You need to clean the laser lense, if that doesn't work you need a new laser pickup. Check first, but from memory you need a sanyo sfp151 17 pin laser. Costs around $25.

Are you using cds labeled music? These are formatted for cd audio home recorders. Data cds for computers will not work. If in doubt, usually on the packaging it states for home audio.

Use your tape out, or another line out signal from your preamp.... if possible - OR Sometimes you can pull out some connectors on the back of your amp (a Metal joint kindathing ;), to break signalpath between preamp and poweramp if its an integrated amp -
Use preamp out signal to feed your cdr ( Main purpose is to equalize out, the RIAA correction on a record)
Have you tried to google your question ? Lots of fine guides out there!!!

I finally solved the problem. I unscrewed the cover, and found NO apparent malfunctioning parts. After a couple weeks, I took the unit to an electronics recycling event in my neighborhood, after I first cut off the power cord. I kept the screws to the cover, and will use them for a decorative craft project. I am now saving up for a REAL LP to CD unit, from a REAL manufacturer.
