Take the Stand to the hardware store and have them try a few sizes that fit. You need Machine Screws and who knows what length?

How to remove stand of LG LED monitor stand base removal

mine has 4 silver screws running perpendicular to the stand shafts, remove the 2 pairs and the stand should slide out the bottom.

The HP is a flat screen monitor used with many desktop computers. When the LCD on your HP monitor goes white, it is an indication that your monitor's inverter board has gone bad. The inverter board is a small circuit board that transfers power from the monitor's main circuit board to the LCD screen. Replacing the inverter board means dismantling the HP monitor.

1. Power down your computer and unplug the HP monitor cable from the back of your desktop. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the monitor. Relocate the monitor to a flat work surface. Place the monitor with the screen facing downward.

2. Remove the Phillips-head screws from the monitor's base stand and from the back cover. Lift the base stand off of the monitor and remove the back cover. Peel away the foil from inside the monitor around the internal circuit board.

3. Locate the inverter board near the bottom of the monitor's casing. Unplug the power cables from either side of the inverter. Loosen the Phillips-head screws from the inverter board. Lift the old inverter out of the monitor's casing and set it aside.

4. Place the new inverter inside the monitor. Replace the Phillips-head screws and fasten it in place. Reconnect the power cables to the connectors on each side of the new inverter. Replace the foil around the outside of the main circuit board.

5. Replace the back panel and base stand, and their retaining Phillips-head screws

This could be because of the 'eco' friendliness of the monitor. Basically a lot of monitors are designed to turn off into a low power state when not in use so to preserve power and life of the monitor. I would return the monitor as the sensors that control this seem to be broken in your monitor.

Open up the back and look for bad caps with bulging tops. Replace them with good quality PANASONIC caps FM or FC series from DIGIKEY.

return to the retailer and exchange it. if it's a green line from top to bottom, the retailer should be able to exchange it. some retailers have a minimum of "stuck pixels" before they will take it back (ie. 10 pixels), but if it's a line, that should be more than the min.

it could be th epower supply and it could be the monitor.
power ON button should not flash orange regardless what you do. it should stay green. then orange. not orange to green to orange.
try the monitor on another PC if you can fine one.
the other thing is are the 2 monitor similar (CRT to CRT and LCD to LCD), you can't mix the the two, they will work but need different video driver to function correctly.

Check to see if there is more than one 15-pin monitor connection on the back of your computer. If there is, try plugging the video cable into the other one.

Is this a new monitor? Was it working before this? Does your computer sound like it is starting up normally?

Get a new LCD monitor, and sell the bad one on ebay. LCD monitors are very cheap now.
