Does the beater shaft turn when there is no load? (bowl is empty) Or it will not turn at all?

It sounds like you have a stripped gear. Your mixer has a nylon/plastic gear inside the mixer and that is 99% of the time what goes wrong. You will want to open the mixer up and inspect all of the gears, but most likely you will need to replace the worm gear, part number W10112253.

Here at MendingShed.com we sell Genuine KitchenAid parts and the items can be found on our website.

Here is a link to that gear: http://www.mendingshed.com/kawormgear.html

You may also want to replace the grease and gearbox gasket while you have the mixer opened up.

We also have a service manual posted on our website which will aid in taking the mixer apart and putting it back together properly.

SOURCE: kitchen aid mixer 5kpm5 motor doesnt go round freely

Any appliance with a motor should rotate freely. These are basically gear driven devices, Kitchen Aid makes different quality equipment. So either the gears are worn or possibly if you notice an electrical smell the problem could be at the tail of the motor. there are 3 major components 1. the brushes where the armature spins if you look inside the vent holes you might see a slight arc while it is running 2. the tail piece which is how the motor is kept straight. or as I said worn gears. this is especially common when companies use plastic gears instead of metal ones. Commercial appliances made by people like Hobart are expensive, but they outlast most others..

Hobart mixer A120 motor getting real hot

Does the shaft the motor derives spin freely? Either the motor is being overloaded or the motor is failing.

Hobart A200 won't start

If the gearing is all free to move and you replaced the motor capacitor that only leaves the motor. If you can remove the motor and test it "out of the gearing" that would confirm it. You have wired the capacitor correctly and used the correct one? Just asking! Are you sure the gearing isn't jammed up?

Mixer noisey and not going round freely

Your mixer most likely has a stripped gears, or a combination of stripped gears. The 5kpm5ewh is an international model similar to the ksm5. The gearing inside the mixer will be the same, some of the electrical parts may differ.
Your mixer has a nylon worm gear inside, this is the most common gear to strip inside the mixer. I would recommend opening the mixer and inspecting all of the gears before you place an order.

Most likely you will need the worm gear, which is available by itself (http://www.mendingshed.com/kawormgear.html) or you can get it in the whole worm drive pinion gear assembly (http://www.mendingshed.com/kitchenaidgearassy.html) the whole assembly is a lot easier to replace, and will save you a lot of time. You may also need to replace the grease inside your mixer, KitchenAid recommends the Benalene 930-2 food grade grease, it is only available in a 30oz can (http://www.mendingshed.com/kagrease.html) And you will also need to replace the gearbox gasket (http://www.mendingshed.com/mixergasket.html).
To aid you in your repair, here is a link to the KitchenAid service manual (http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaidservicemanual.pdf) This will walk you through how to take apart the mixer, replace the gear, grease and gasket, and reassemble the mixer.

KitchenAid stand mixer KSM50PWH. Was kneading dough with dough hook attachment and it quit turning. Motor works fine but the part that's supposed to go round and round doesn't. Can I fix this?

The Nylon Worm Gear has stripped. This is designed into the part so if the Mixer gets overloaded, it won't burn out the motor. Which is odd if you have the reset switch like I do.

You can buy it online at Kitchenaid.com

Have you try to run the motor without engaing of worm gears? The worm gear 15T assembly need to remove in order for motor to run freely. check worm gear attach to motor shaft for any damaging.

The pump doesnt seem to be working. No pressure for the water.

I'm sorry. Kitchenaid stand mixers do not have a pump in the motor, nor are they used for dispensing water.

Mixer motor shut down

Mine did almost the exact same thing one day. I have the Artisian Model, It would do it on any of the lowest speeds. Dont know if this will help you or not but I just ran mine the next day on all the way high with the spash guard on for making whipped cream for about 6 minutes full throttle and for some reason it hasnt went slow and shut itself off since then. Mine is about 7 months old. I called Kitchen Aid but their customer service all of a sudden seems to not know english worth a poo...

Try running yours on full blast for 5 minutes with something simple in the bowl. If its a 250 watt or higher make whipped water out of 2 cups of water and a tablespoon of cornstarch. Run it till you get what looks like whipped cream. Oh yea. Use the Balloon whip. The lubrication in the motor is supposed to last for at least 5 years but I have seen on numerous post's that if you run them on all the way for at least 5 minutes the oil will even out in the motor. Running the mixers at low speed alot will cause the oil inside not to move as freely since the motor doesnt heat up the oil in the gears.

Good luck.
