It seems the darkest black areas on the screen turn bright red. There are some red lines throughout the screen. I can still see everything but some parts just have red lines through it. Could it be a connector in the screen? I read on another Fixya post that someone said to check the connections internally. It seems the darkest black areas on the screen turn bright red. The inverter is to change the volts from the laptop to the Backlight. This wont have anything to do with it. Im more than certian it will be the LCD cable. Proberly loose or torn at where the lid closes. Hope this helps. James
My thoughts is that you may have had a Microsoft update to which has knocked out your drivers for these features. You may have to go back to HP's Web site and re-load the drivers for these two features. Blessings, A/V Media Guy
The failure is due to the vram on the mlb (systemboard). Good news is this is a common failure for the Intel's and is readily fixed, prob is the vram and nVidia chip need to be reflowed using a BGA machine (about the price of a Lexus).
Without a viable repair option, you'll need to replace the mlb. Part# located in the memory bay (middle cover underneath the laptop), and expect to pay upwards of $450 from HP for just the part. *** BEWARE getting this part from a 3rd-party vendor, as they may NOT have reflowed the chips and have the issue resolved
To isolate the issue.please connect the notebook to external monitor with the help of VGA port.(Blue PORT) on the notebook.if it good with out any lines.you need to fix the LCD screen of the Notebook.
