Horizontal Lines Thru Picture on R967 Camera

Does anyone know of a fix washed out pictures with horizontal lines thru them. Pictures taken outside are washed out with the lines included while flash pictures seem OK but the lines, although weak, are still there.
It was OK prior to a flight. I took the camera thru the check in and when I tried it after that, the above condition was happening.
HP techs say it's a fault in the shutter letting light in and they will give me some credit on a replacement (It's about a year out of warranty).

I suspect it is a problem with CCD sensor. Let me know if HP were willing to repair it for free.

Casio Exilim s500--horizontal lines in picture and autofocus creates blurry pics

It appears this problem is due a failing CCD device in many brand cameras. All the manufactures use the same source(s). I have not persued Casio as yet, but other companies are offering a recall to replace the CCD for free. I plan to use this approach with Casio. Search the web for "failing CCD in digital camera", it describes exactly what we are observing.

My camera seems to short out and there are horizontal lines in the pictures.

get new batteries, if recharging your current batteries does not work (to stop it shorting out).

reduce your shutter exposure, by changing to Manual Mode (M), selecting +/-, and then the left button (flash) around the Menu OK button. Mine works fine at 1s shutter speed, but was showing horizontal lines before that ...
