Maytag Performa Electric Dryer Won't Start

Model # PYET244AYW, Serial # 15438727GL Problem started with auto dry cycle not advancing - dryer would run forever in that cycle unless shut off manually and the clothes were so hot I couldn't take touch them right away (I don't know if it was because the dryer was running non-stop for 8 hours). Dryer ran this way for about a week - I dried in timed mode but my teenage son would forget and put it on auto dry sometimes. Then I went to start the dryer and nothing. It will no longer turn on. How can I tell if it is the timer or thermostat/thermal fuse?

Check the blower wheel, sounds to me like it is loose on the blower motor, common on these dryers. One sure sign would be a warped filter and a rusted top. The blower aint putting out enough and the dryer is over heating .

Replace the thermal fuse and the high limit switch.
They come as a set.
Clean the auto dry sensor with rubbing alcohol.

Our Maytag Centennial Electric dryer is not cycling in auto dry mode but will in timer mode. Any thoughts?

There is a sensor that the clothes have to touch when the drum spins. This sensor measures how wet the clothes are. If you don't have enough of a load in the dryer then the sensor wont detect the dryness. Or it could be a bad sensor or connection or main board.

Need to convert electrical Maytag Performa Dryer (Model:PYET244AYW) to propane gas system. It can be converted?

No that can not be done fairly inexpensivly...it could be converted but would actually cost more to purchase all needed parts that it would be to buy a brand new gas dryer

Maytag performa model#pyg2300aww takes four cycles to dry

how long is dryer vent run ? does it go up or out to the side ? Sounds like the dryer vent is clogged. A long run on your vent will also cause this problem with a small amount of lint. Try cleaning out your lint screen on the dryer vent they can get pretty caked up with lint. If you have a long dryer vent run post back the length and direction and I will get you the maximum length for your specific run. You may need a booster fan if it is excessively long or straight up as through the roof.

MAYTAG SDE3606AZW ELECTRIC DRYER

Does the dryer dry fine? If your dryer is taking too long too dry you might have a venting obstruction that is not allowing the dryer too sense that the clothes are dry so the timer won't advance. Try disconnecting the vent from the back of the dryer and dry a load unvented and see if the timer advances.

MAYTAG PERFORMA PYET244AYW

It could very well be a thermostat problem, however, it could also be the drive motor itself starting to burn out. Some dryers are equipped with a "Thermal Limiter" that will cut the power to heat. It doesn't seem to be the case for you. I would defiantely look into another thermostat but if it comes down to the motor, depending on the price, You may want to buy a new dryer.
