You may be having compatibility issue instead of what you suspect may be wrong with both your phone and the Bluetooth headset your friend gave you.

Well, there is no such thing as a Bluetooth headset being permanently locked in to a phone.

As long as there is an open 'visible' Bluetooth connection option and there are devices in range ready to pair, the process to pair starts.

Whenever there are incompatibility issues, pairing two devices using Bluetooth becomes a hassle.

SOURCE: Bluetooth headset Nokia BH-600

You just have to press your blutooth on/off button a bit longer for 15 to 20 sec, when the LED blinking stops (noted that the LED should be turn ON but not blinking), try to search the device again with your phone. By that time your blutooth headset should be recognized by your phone, then select and enter the code 0000.

I somehow unpaired my bt108 headset from my nokia e71 phone and can't get them to recognize each other again. I tried 1234 and 0000 as my pin and am away from my manual to check if it was anythin else. ...

Try completely deleting the BT1-8 profile from your cellphone, turn off the cell and the bluetooth, turn the phone back on and then the BT108 and set it to pairing mode and they should find each other again. One other note, make sure you don't have another unpaired, bluetooth capable cell phone nearby that's turned on or it could be interfering.

The phone says that no dvice can be found

it will be like the headset is paired with another phone previously. so you need to unpair that first.

turn on, turn off and turn on while holding the ON button along with the volume up button. it will blink and when the light will show up continuously, the unpairing is complete.
now search for the bluetooth from mobile and pair. i guess you know the password. ...... the default pasword for all headstes will be 0000 which you have to input from mobile when prompted

My LG cookie is not able to detect the Nokia Bluetooth headset

Sorry if you have done this but let's see if we can get you connected!

On your Nokia headset press and hold the multi-function key for roughly 8 seconds. Your green light will begin to flash quickly. Your Bluetooth headset is now in pairing mode.

Now using your LG Cookie, press Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Search

Once found, you will need to type the pass code which is normally set as four zeros (0000).

You should now be connected.

We hope this helps!

Can't hear anything in my bluetooth headset, mic is working

Hi--First, make sure your "mute" function is off.  Try holding both volume buttons at the same time for a second or two.  If that doesn't help, while you're having a conversation, either with or without bluetooth, make sure your phone's volume is turned up.  On a lot of phones the volume button will control both ringer and conversation volumes, but turning it up without the phone in use only affects the ringer volume.  My husband thought there was something wrong with his bluetooth until we noticed his phone volume was set too low--not as noticeable on handset, but bluetooth apparently needs volume up pretty high!
