I have aSony kv-36hs500 that turns on but has no sound at all. occasionally small clicks and pops are heard from speakers but nothing else. also the tv seems to have trouble locking onto tv channels. once locked on the channel stays on screen , occasionally fading in and out. Also the tv does turn on and there is no problem with the crt with brightness, color or tint, etc. It does take time sometimes for the crt to come to life otherwise its fine. I am suspecting a power supply problem for the rest of the system. Hi,There are three cause of no sound, ethier the problem is in the speaker, sound driver or output and from the audio setting.First is check the setting, that you already done that what you sad.Now check the speaker if good or not,Use analog or digital tester to check the speaker if good or not or test the speaker to the other amplifier to identify if good or not.If the speaker is deffective replace it and if the speaker is good the problem is in the sound driver.Maybe the sound output ic is deffective or no supply.Thats why it is needed to troubleshoot and repair the sound circuit section of your television. Thanks
On some models 3 blinks pertain to a lamp cover error, lamp cover is not attached securely or lamp is not set securely causing no picture or sound. There are switches or sensors that interlock and send signals to the board telling it is set securely.
That means that output varies with with volume control, but you have to set speaker off to activate the audio output, this is done in this same audio menu.
first check the speaker setting in the menu see if the speaker is selected ON. if the speaker is on then check the SAP function of the set. check this with the remote with the MTS button on the remote. keep hitting the button untill the word stereo appears.
Hello
Press the MTS on the remote control handset to select STEREO, MONO or SAP. All the options will be available only when the current TV channel is broadcasting that option. Channels will not always carry programes, that have all MTS options. If "STEREO" appears on the screen when you select a channel means stereo sound is available with current programme. You can hear sound from both speakers. If broadcast is not strong and clear, stereo sound will not be available. Press "MTS" button to change it to "Mono". This will eliminate the noise. If "MONO" appears on the screen when you select a channel, stereo effect will not be availabe, even though you have set it to stereo. If "SAP" appears when you select a channel 'Second Audio Programe' [SAP] broadcasting is available for that programme. Press the "MTS" button to 'SAP' and you can hear that programe in different language or some other kind of audio.
Check your TV may be set to Auto SAP in the MTS feature. Make sure the speaker option is set to On in the Audio Menu. Or Reset in Factory setting> Turn on the TV. While holding down the RESET button on the remote
control, press the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn
itself off, then back on again. Release the RESET button.
The 7 blinks are an error indication that is generated by protection circuitry inside the set. A problem has been detected and the set is shutdown to prevent further damage. The cilnking is the power relay that is attempting to turn on the set. I'll look up the eror code and update this with the likely solution later today.
plug out the tv and let it stand for about 2hrs so that it can reset itself if that does not work take the set to a tech for repairs the problem is in the power supply and related circuits good luck.
