When my speed queen starts a low quick banging noise is heard. tried low loads but same noise

A Speed Queen top-load washer making a banging sound at the beginning of the cycle could be a sign of a few problems. You could examine the following:
  • Size of load: Check to see that you are not overfilling the washer. The water and clothes should be about 3/4 full in the washer. Overloading the washer can result in the drum becoming unbalanced and making banging sounds.
  • Leveling: Verify that the washer is level. If not, reposition the washer's feet until it is level. A washer that is out of balance can also make banging sounds.
  • Spring elements: Examine the suspension springs at the drum's top. The drum may slam against the washer's sides if one of them has broken or come loose.
  • Motor: The motor might be the source of the banging sound. The washer may vibrate and make banging sounds if the motor is loose or damaged.

I have a Kenmore 417.44102300 front load washer. Yesterday as it approached final spin the drum was spinning at top speed as it usually does and all of a sudden it was like something let go and it started...

Possibly a broken bracket we see this happen frequently, with this type of model the parts are kinda high for this repair, look at picture in bubble.could be the shocks I don't think so.fgonzalez278.png

Check your water pressure at the sourse. Strong water pressure will cause banging noises from relay valves open and close. Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Making loud banging noises. Sounds like something is inside, but nothing is. Something seems to be between the basin(?) and its casing.

It is very common for an item to get stuck between the basin and casing. You can drain the washer and spin the basin manually a few times in either direction. It should spin smoothly, but with some resistance. You may need to remove the front cover by typically lifting the top enough the loosen the front panel, then inspect the perimeter of the basin and the condition of the belt and motor. Remove anything that doesn't belong (i.e. a sock or zipper!)

Banging during high speed spin cycle

Laco, drop the bottom front panel and see if all of the shocks are in tact on the tub assy. They just insert and lock by turning. If these are ok, check the back belt pulley. Sometimes one of the tines will split or crack and you will get this symptom. Catriver..post back.
