Xd memory card

A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe. NOTE: During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive. To resolve this error, try the following:
  • Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
  • Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.

Recover deleted photos

I have had success with this... Download Asoftech photo recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

XD-Picture Card

Ultra-compact with fast data transfer rates, the Type M xD-Picture Card is currently available with up to 2GB of storage capacity.

Not only do they support the exclusive Olympus Panorama option, they also activate art effect functions including 3D, oil painting, cartoon and watercolor. These extra functions which are used in conjunction with the software provided with your camera will add fun and creativity to your photography.

So just to clarify, you have a TYPE M XD PICTURE CARD, MADE BY OLYMPUS.

And an Olympus mju770 SW. Now, it is the software on your computer that is going to allow you to make any changes. So first, you need to open that software. Connect the camera to the computer via USB, and voila, extra functions within the software will activate and allow you to edit the pictures with special effects like watercoloring, etc.

You know, you could also achieve the same result by using a powerful image editing tool like Photoshop CS3 or even go back as far as Photoshop 7.0. Or Microsoft Photo Editing can add those effects, and that's free with any XP machine.

Try using a different Memory card and see if it reads it, if not you might need to replace the memory card reader.
