The DOW depends on the year set in a digital watch. The ability to set the year correctly depends on the date of production of the module. I have some of the earliest Casio digital watches made. Their calendars didn't extend much more than 20 years.
What I have to do to get the DOW to display correctly on as 20th century digital watch is to find a year within its range that has the same calendar and set it to that. A Google search for "what years have the same calendar as" will find one.
Ignore anything before 1983, the date of the first Casio digital watch produced. For 2022 those years include 2011, 2005, 1994, 1983. For 2023 they're 2017, 2006, 1995, 1989.
Set the right date and year and day will come automatically.
