I have an LG MT-60pz90v plasma monitor. To find a repair station here is impossible. Our problem is the picture has just started to go out on us (total black screen of death). If you let it set for a day or two, it will come back on but not for long. There are no lines or color changes. Either there is a picture or not. The sound is fine as well. One tech guy suggested cold solder joints??

Hi Emma,
If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

The power supply needs change out, go to www.partstore.com and see if they have one for your set, not that hard to change out, if you are mechanicaly inclind.
Age... Pure and simple. The backlighting and the display panel start to fail and the white is the first you start to notice, its probably not going to last a lot longer. Plasma tv's are nearly impossible to repair now days due to parts availability and service information, plasma tv's just went the way of the dodo bird, its all LCD now days. Ever time i get a plasma tv in for repair its generally headed for the recycling dumpster.
georgiaheasm, I you prove pc not problem, then you or qualified electronics technician will need to troubleshoot units internat power supply for common problems associated with LCD plasma and CCFL back-lit monitors. Look for some DIY videos on YOUTUBE that deal with lcd repair, plasma lcd repair, lcd monitor disassembly, lcd tv disassembly. Look at them even though you will not DIY repair your unit. Good luck with repair. 12fixlouie
This is almost certainly the device that sends electricity to the the plasma in the panel after failing. Bring to your local repair shop and expect to pay 300-400 parts and 100-200 labour.
I'm guessing this is a problem on the Y-SUS PCB or the Control PCB. Call LG and they will find you a servicer. Most LG Plasmas have 2 year warranties and they are covered in your home. It kinda sucks but it is better now than after your warranty expires this repair would cost several hundred dollars.
