Could be a fuel starvarion problem. Theres one thing you could try before you try stripping and cleaning the carb. Back off both tuning screws, and pull over till it fires. Then screw both back in and reset them to standard. H3/4 of a turn anticlockwise, L1 full turn anticlockwise. Then try firing it up again. Sometimes its enough to cklear any dirt in the carb. Failing that, Its a strip and clean.

These carb cleaning tools are great, but you have to know where and where not to be putting them. Certain parts of Zama carbs and Walbro carbs have tiny valves within the carb. So be carefull.

SOURCE: Husqvarna 40 Chainsaw won't start

The carb uses the pulses from the crankcase to actuate a diaphram in the carb as the fuel pump.If you strip the carb make sure there are no perforations/cracks etc. on these diaphrams and check too that the valve flaps are OK.if not fit a carb kit.

Also check that the pipe or channel from the carb to crankcase is OK.

If all this is correct you can simply put your hand behind the carb or inlet to check for vacuum if not there you have probably blown a crank seal(but unlikely)and you will have to replace them.

Hope this helps, and please come back if you need any further assistance.

Try turning the high idle screw out 1/8 to 1/4 turn refer to your manuel for the location of this screw.

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Makesure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

check how the carby was put together as the problem is a blocked main jet or diaphragm not working properly
it is sucking fuel in on full choke but the jet is not allowing fuel in to keep running

Husqvarna 266xp issues.

As the saw runs out of fuel the revs increase due to lean fuel mix, so would guess the saw is not hitting its 12500rpm at full revs, this is either a blocked air filter or the carb adjustment, the revs should be checked with a suitable tacho before leaning off the H screw on the carb, increasing the revs beyond 12500 could result in a cylinder seizure.

Runs at full throtle and then stops

sounds like you have a crank seal out of it, you ncan try to clean carb and check fuel lines etc, but usually when they rev high with out giving throttle means there is an air leak Good Luck 2StrokeJim

Neos starts if I squirt petrol straight into the carb, runs for about 5 seconds, reves up a bit, and then dies. Has full take of petrol and oil, spark ok, had new carb fitted - was running been left...

you need to confirm pilot jet is clean and clear of fuel gum first step up. in the the pilot jet can it can block with in a week or two so few months is more than possible
the high rev is just what happens when motor out of fuel (so it has used all you pored into the plug hole)
remove carb - remove pilot jet - blow compressed air through the hole pilot jet goes into and replace with cleaned or a new pilot jet
also confirm it is brand new fuel in the tank don't even try to run the old fuel throw every drop away and re fill if you haven't already

Chain saw carburator settings for husqvarna 61

Turn both screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and the engine should start and run. Allow the engine to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Turn the H jet screw CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-strokes. Proper adjustment occurs when the engine is 4-stroking, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. This gives best power and lowest heat. Release the throttle and adjust L jet CW until the engine idles fairly well, but will allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

Very slow to start huskey te 250 on a 53 plate

The engine is water cooled. The exhaust pipe is air cooled. Sitting idle and revving the engine is likely to exceed the cooling capacity of the motionless air. Air needs to flow over the pipe to cool it. If the pipe is glowing red while riding then consider re-jetting the carb. Too lean a fuel/air mixture burns hotter.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!

My bike starts fine but my throtle doesn't respond when i rev it

Sounds like a bit of trash plugging the main jet. This is not a major repair. Just pull the carb off and remove the float bowl. Clean the bowl then remove the main jet & blow it out. reasemble the carb then go riding. P.S. The main jet is a small brass fitting in the center of the carb. It screws into the body of the carb. A single drill hole runs through the jet.
