Panasonic tx-26lxd8 Can hear sound but only a very faint picture

When I first turn it on it has a white/yellow screen with multi coloured lines moving across or down the screen. It is very psychedelic and as I can still hear sound I initially thought someone was trying to communicate with me through the TV. So for about 2 months I was writing down pieces of information trying to work out what the message was and if in fact it was human people or an alien species communicating with me. Eventually I realised it was just in fact a fault on the TV so here I am trying to fix it. Please help?

SOURCE: Proscan 26LB30Q Vs PS2 = HELP

The red white and yellow cables are composite connections. The red/green/blue connections are component connections.

The playstation's composite connections consist of two audio connections- red & white, and a composite yellow video connection. The TV's white connection is the audio, and the red/green/blue are component video. You need an adapter that will connect the one yellow(composite video) to the three red/green/blue (component video) connections

SOURCE: Vertical white line down centre of Soniq PT42SH plasma TV.

One of your "X" buffer boards is defective. In Panasonic plasma tv's they are located at the bootom of the set and connect directly to the plasma diplay panel via a thin ribbon cable. The board you want to replace will be directly in line with the discolored vertival line in the picture. The part number is on the circuit board and usualy starts with "tnp..." or "txp..."

there is a get around for this fault if you locate panel v26c look at the bottom rh corner you will find 2 test points tp11 and tp 12 if you then look on the rhs of the lcd panel actualy mounted on the side (you will have to remove the metal frame from around the screen ) you will find another panel with 2 more points tp 506 and tp507 simply solder a wire link between tp11to tp506 and another from tp12 to tp507 and that should be a permanent fix to this problem

Other than taking the television to a repair shop not much can be done. I recommend a new television. Excellent brands are Sony, and Samsung. Both brands are quality televisions. Best of all you can order them on Amazon.com for lower prices.

Panasonic tx-26lxd8 Can hear sound but only a very faint picture

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

You can hear the sound , just no picture on screen

I presume model number is correct---with sound after about 2 minutes if you see a faint band of white noise top to bottom to the right of the center of the screen (easy to miss) C509 is bad.

Tv showing blue screen with flyback lines sound ok

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket
