There should be 2 buttons on the remote control that turn on power. One should be for all devices controlled by it and the other for devices you press first and then press that power button.
I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH MINE ! But before mine turns off, it shows a blurry squiggly red mark on the screen then shuts off and wont turn back on sometimes for several hours.. And everytime I CAN get it back on, I have to unlpug the whole thing and plug it back in...
When you finish cutting, bring the engine down to idle for about 30 seconds (some say 5 or 10 seconds but I have found a little longer doesn't hurt anything and sure doesn't scare the heck out of you) before you shut it off, If you shut it down wile it is still turning fast, it will continue to feed fuel into the cylinder and out into the hot muffler where the heat ignites the vapor causing the backfire.
All you need to do is remove the back cover, then remove the metal cover that covered the power supply. Watch tv w/o cover, it won't shut down again. Try it and post here if it works.
These sets are notorious to have bad components in the power supply, and if you have solid state repair experience, you will need a service manual to repair this SMPS(switch mode power supply) Good Luck
