My samsung digimax s500 has a white screen when I take pictures outside

The camera takes pretty good pictures when taking them inside (sometimes has a yellow tint when taken inside) and if it is completely dark, then the camera takes great pictures. However, when I go to take a picture outside, the picture (and LCD screen) is ALL white. it is weird, because the camera was working fine with taking pictures outside one week, then the next week all I get is a WHITE picture when taking pictures outside.

SOURCE: outside pictures turn white

Check the white balance. This should be under menu. When you are outside in sunlight, change is to the sun icon, ect.
Are the exposures very long? If they are, they need to be shorter in high light, and longer in lowlight situations.

SOURCE: pics turn white with lines when taken outside in day light

Check to see if your ISO is set to a high number like 800 or 1600. If so, set it lower or on auto ISO. Your white balance should probably be on auto white balance. Go into the setup menu and see if your camera has a setting for "reset". This could take your camera back to factory defaults.

Overexposed pictures outside

Look in the manual for how to change your iSO. For outside 200 is about average. Inside photos usually come out better at a higher ISO. If it is not that, look for your white balance.

My camera takes good pictures when taken inside, but when I take pictures outside the pictures come out white, why is this?

Same problem with me. I think it's to do with the lens shutter and exposure time. My camera is pretty old but works fine APART from that. I'll just be taking lots of night shots till I know what's wrong good luck :)

Pictures are over exposed when outside

You may have the settings wrong. Check in the MENU to see if you have it set to "inside" pics rather than outside.
Also the ISO has a lot to do with the exposure. If the iso is set too low outside sunlight pics will be white or overexposed. Try setting ISO on wheel for various options select program mode button and MENU select ISO 120 or 250. These are are pretty general settings. the flash will only engage inside or outside if the light is low ( like evening) I suspect your ISO setting is at a setting that is incompatible with bright sunlight
t
Also select White Balance and move it to DAYLIGHT

take a few shots inside and out to see if there is an improvement.

Flash makes my pictures too bright/too dark

u might want to try and put a coffee filter over your flash when you take pictures to make the flash less bright. it sounds really silly but it actually works.
