Whirlpool imperial series 2 ultimate care washer

Hello, I have a problem with this washer. It is currently leaking water from the front on the left when in use. I can see where the water is comng out of the middle, it looks like a hole in front of this 10in diameter little drum like object. Also, I can feel where the hole is, what do I do. Could this be a pump or possibly is it stopped up?

Thank you very much, is this something I can do on my own? Do you know where I could purchase one other than spending tons of money on a repair guy, don't get me wrong they have to eat too.

Your water pump is attached to the motor and is probably the source of your water leak.
Replace the pump.
Use the attached video to show how to access the cabinet and pump.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2 leak after wash cycle

Hello, you may have a small drip from the pump or a small drip from the hose that goes from the pump to the rear of the cabinet. To make sure you will have to run the unit with the cabinet removed. A local service tech can remove the cabinet quicklyand isolate the leak.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II - Whinning and leaking small amount of water

If the water is appearing in the front of the washer, you may have a leak in the drain pump. The link I'm posting below gives step-by-step instructions on how to replace the drain pump.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r397092-replacing_water_pump

If it is not the drain pump, at least this gives you the necessary instruction on how to access the cabinet interior to inspect it properly. A whining noise could be something caught in the pump, or something stuck between the wash tub and outer basket. In order to run the washer with the case removed, you will need to by-pass the lid switch. this accomplished by jumpering the two BLACK wires on the lid switch connector at the timer. CAUTION: Unplug the washer before connecting the jumper wires. Then, plug back in and start the washer. Fill on the lowest setting and look for leaks.

NOTE: The drain pump is not serviceable and must be replaced if leaking.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have further questions.

With the machine off and empty, fill the softner bin with water only. Does the water level go down or stay the same.
