Yes, with the appropriate replacement driver in size and similar specs regardless of the brand. P-audio drivers worked fine in this unit.

Why does it randomly lose power?

Hello, I can not say what the direct cause is,

perhaps some soldering points on the printed circuit bords are loosen due to thermic stress. test: give mechanical ticks on the woofer while he is playing to check this.
Hope you will have succes.

What is the low frequency driver

Usually the "low frequency driver"is the speaker that is responsible for playing the lower frequencies of the audio. Otherwise is the speaker that is in the subwoofer, or the woofer at the 2-way speakers. Do you came up with a problem with your own subwoofer or you are just asking a question?

Any idea why my Mackie swa1501 bass bin has blown 2 speakers in the last 3 months? Bass Drum is the heaviest instrument going through it, but I never let it clip, I also run a fan on it which keeps it...

does your swa1501 get hot just being switched on ?
sounds like your output transistors breaking down or your dc to dc rectifier is shorting this would dumping high voltage to the speaker. I guess your speaker coil is burnt . check Q4,Q5,Q7,Q12.Q14,Q15,Q17 and Q18 these are all mosfet transistors that commonly break down..

SWA1501 Sub blows fuses when turned on...

Shorted amp or blown speaker. Other things could also cause it. But there is a short circuit in it.

I have a pair of mackie srm 450 and one swa 1501 the bass output in one of the 450s has no sound. i hear sound only from the high frequency part of the speaker

you have one of two problems.1) the woofer is blown(most likely) or 2) the crossover is fried(rare). Take the woofer out and press on the speaker cone(softly). If there is a scratchy feeling when you move it or if it doesn't move at all, you'll either need a new woofer, or get that one reconed.
good luck.

Replaceing internal fuse to mackie active sub woofer swa 1501

Hi There, you need to check the 3 fuses that clip onto the main amp board. You can access them by undoing the two screws that are on the top and the bottom of the sub. They have flat large heads and you will need a hex key to unscrew them. If it is one of the fuses that has gone it will either be discoloured as in burnt or you will see the metal inside has split. Simply replace these by pulling out the burnt out fuse and replace with a new fuse and hey presto you should be back up and running. If you need any parts for the sub or fuses then www.LondonSpeakerShop.com will be able to supply them (that is if you're in the UK). Also the offer a service of swapping them over for you if you really don't want to do it yourself. Hope this helps. Grant (from www.LondonSpeakerHire.com)
