White Spots Streaks on DLP Screen

I have a Mitsubishi DLP 65833 television.

From day 1 (the TV is now 1½ years old) I noticed that is has had some white spots and streaks on one side of the screen. It was not a big deal. The only time I noticed it was when I turned the TV off.

Last night I watched my 1st Blue Ray movie on the TV and those spots/streaks were noticeable on all the dark scenes.

I know my Mitsubishi warranty is up. I am just looking for some trouble shooting help. I like the TV, but this is really disappointing.

If you bought the set new you might just want to contact the manufacturer - if they are decent, they might just try to help you out with your dilemma.

those are going to be dust spots on the LCD panels internal to the optical engine. i suggest that you take the screen off and take off the panel i nthe middle of the tv with 2 screws in it and there will be an area that has 3 metal fins covering thin orange ribbon cables. the 3 square objects at the end of those ribbon cables will be the LCD panels spray wiht air compressor unitl clean and that should greatly help your problem.

SOURCE: My mitsubishi 65-inch dlp tv

It's either mirror hinge fatigue or dust on the inside.
Mirror hinge fatigue can be fixed by putting a solid color picture (white or gray works best from what I understand) on the display and letting it sit for 20 minutes.
If it's dust, someone is going to have to go in there and clean it out.
Also could be a defective micromirror device.
Try the first suggestion and if it doesn't work, you're going to need a technician to take a look at it.

Mitsubishi wd60735 white spots apperaing

Thats a very coomon problem which is caused by a failed DLP chip. The mirrors get stuck and thats what causes the white spots they will keep multiplying untill the entire screen is filled. You will need to replace the DLP chip. You can get the replacement DLP chip and illustrated instructions on how to do the repair from www.tvrepairworld.com

This is the DLP chip failing. Contact Mitsubishi and they will provide the part but you have to pay $200 for the service call.

White dots on screen

I developed white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi WD-57734 in increasing numbers over days and weeks. I called a repair service who quoted me $1500 to replace the light engine. He suggested I call Mitsubishi Customer relations at 800-332-2119 option 5 which i did. To make a long story short after several conversations with them they agreed to replace the part for free if I picked up the labor (Would have been less conversations if I had the original purchase receipt). Instead of $1500 I paid $250. The tv was only 3.5 years old. Perseverance paid off.

Little white spots appearing. Started with one now have 8. They look like little stars. TV is only 2-years old

most likely a problem with the optical engine. that tv is a DLP and it uses a DMD device that is made by texas instruments that has millions of tiny mirrors on the face that move independantly and the white spots are going to be stuck mirrors that are not moving. suggest calling mitsubishi customer support for possible repair accomodation. that repair depending on the labor would be around $1500.00 total parts cost is around $1100.00. mitsubishi customer support 1-800-332-2119

Own a Samsung DLP TV 42 inch and white dots have

The random whit dots you are seeing is more than not the DMD or million little mirrors board. The white spots represent some of the mirrors that are sticking in the on position. In that case they are always reflecting white light from the lamp. I don't concider the DMD board a do it yourself repair since on the older DLP set it requires mechanical alignment as well. The best thing to do is contact a techincian and see what they might charge to repair the TV for you. Please take a few moments to rate my answer...Thanks..

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
