I need to clean out the area that the lint screen slides into, as it is all caked with lint and dust. I removed 3 screws that seem to hold the plastic frame in place, but it does not budge. How can I get this apart to clean it properly? Maytag Electric Dryer MDE9706AYW

my lint screen comes out to clean. to clean dust below the screen [before the 4 inch vent tube] i use my vacuum by
adding a cardboard tube [from empty paper towel roll]. i flatten most of the cardboard tube so i can stick it down into the narrow opening.. also a longer empty wrapping paper tube might work. another option is to use a metal flexible mechanic's tool [from dollar stores] - about 3 feet long by 3/8 inch thick with 4 wire fingers that push out the end using the spring loaded plunger. yes, have one but haven't needed to use it for dryer [yet].. ;-))

take the metal duct out that the lint filter slides down into,stick the metal strip through the hole in the side of the duct so that when it's in the bottom part of strip is flush up against the back side wall of duct and it should have like a half inch or so sticking out of the hole,but before you stick it in clean out the duct and with a thin long screw driver open the plastic cover that the filter slides through and poke out any lint in the slots that the filter slides in.so unplug the dryer,remove the bottom panel of dryer,remove the lint filter and screws that hold the lint filter duct in place they are 1/4 inch head screws,clean out the duct and the side slots up above the duct in the plastic area then slide the metal strip into the hole so that the bottom part that you first put into the hole fits flush up against the back inside wall of duct and the top of strip will be flush to the outside wall of duct and like around 1/2 inch or so still showing.hope this helps

you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is and if the vent line is long i use a leaf blower to blow out the line.if the filter is on top,unplug the dryer first before you touch it,pull out the filter and remove the two phillips screws in front of it,then remove the vent line and take off the back panel.on the left side you'll see the duct that the filter slides into,remove the 4 screws that hold in on and remove it and clean it out,go outside and make sure the vent is clear,if there's a cage or a screen on it remove it and throw it away,blow out the vent line,next pop the top panel up with a screw driver,there are 2 clips one on each side that holds the top to the front panel around 2 inches from each side in the front,put the screw driver in between the panels and pop it up,on the right side there's a wire harness,pull it apart,it's easier to stick a screw driver in the holder to separate the harness,then there are 2 5/16 inch screws one on each side around 3 inches down from the top,remove them and pull up on the front panel and remove it,vac out the inside of dryer,if you have a shop vac blow all the lint off of the motor and you can blow all the lint and dust forwards so you don't have to remove the drum,some people have trouble putting the belt back on when the drum's removed.do this once a year and you won't have any fires and you won't pop any thermostats or thermal fuses in the dryer.let me know how you make out.one guy wrote back and said he had a birds nest in the vent line and the leaf blower cleaned it all out

We recommend vacuuming your condenser every 3 - 6 months. Cleaning the condenser is important for the overall operations of the unit including cooling functions. A dirty condenser may lead to warm temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer. It may also cause the unit to run excessively. It may contribute to condensation or frost inside of the compartments. If the condenser is not cleaned properly it may even cause premature failure of mechanical components in the unit. Condenser Cleaning - All Models Before cleaning the unit, shut the electricity off at the control panel. When you clean the condenser, wear gloves to avoid injury from the sharp condenser fins. Use a soft bristle brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser. To avoid bending the condenser fins, be sure to vacuum in the direction of the fins, up and down. Clean the condenser every three to six months or sooner if you have pets. 600 Series Framed and Stainless Steel louvered grilles: First remove the grille screws located at the bottom of the grille. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. Overlay Panel Grille: To remove, lift up then pull out at the bottom and down to release from its mounting bracket. Remove the two black screws in the lowest louver of the grille. Tilt the bottom of the grille out and away. It will release from the top of the grille. Model 601RG Stainless Steel Grille: Remove in a similar fashion as the overlay grille panel. 700 Series All Units: At the bottom of the unit, remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 400 Series 424/424FS At the bottom of the unit, remove the screws holding the kick plate. The condenser is located behind. 427/427R: Remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 430: First remove the screws located at the bottom of the grille. NOTE: These screws (Phillips head) are accessed with the door open. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. 200 Series 245, 249, 315W Remove the kick plate at the bottom of the unit, giving you access to the condenser area.

IF LINT SCREEN ON TOP REMOVE 2 SCREWS, THEN SLIDE (pull) TOP TOWARDS U NOW,, DISCONNECT POWER FIRST,EACH SIDE HAS 2 5/16 SCREWS REMOVE ,UNPLUG DOOR SWITCH , PULL FRONT PANEL UP TOWARDS U NOW YOU CAN ACCESS WHOLE DRYER ,,REPL/ ROLLERS.IDLER PULLY SHOULD RESOLVE PROBLEM

it is..remove bottom panel ..after unplugging from wall..remove lint screen next remove 3 screws holding the lint screen/blower housing in place ..clean out housing clean blower wheel with long brush or a long arm clean lint from base and on element housing on right side especially on top of the housing..that is the most important location if lint gets too thick on element housing ..fire hazard....ckd vent behind dryer and to outside if you find a large amount of lint .that is good indication of a restricted vent

I sometimes use refigerater brushes to clean the lint areas out. They have a skinny tip that easily slides in.

Take the vent hose lose at the back of your drier, and clean your lint screen off or replace it, then try drying some clothes. If this technique minimize or eliminate the caking of your lint screen, then the problem is in your vent hose. Clearly, there is an obstruction, or an improper installation of your vent hose.

Here's my suggestion: I have a 55" Philips HDTV and I live in an area known for excessive dust and more than a fair share of spiders. I checked online and found that there are usually 1-4 access panels that can be removed for cleaning, repair, etc. Here are my steps: 1. Remove the upper most panel (usually a trapezoid-shaped plastic "box"). There are anywhere from 1-4 "hangers" that, once all the screws are removed, will hold the panel in place while you are unscrewing the last few screws. 2. Remove the panel and clean with a lint-free cloth the entire inside of the panel. This is an area where a lot of dust and spider webs can be found. 3. Grab your vacuum cleaner and carefully clean away all the spider webs. Making sure you don't bump into the inside of the projector screen! 4. Spray a small amount of dust cleaner or window cleaner on the lint-free cloth and run the entire length of the TV. Clean all surfaces this way except the reflector (mirror). It is best to clean the mirror with compressed air (get it anywhere - usually in the computer section). 5. Using a flashlight or bare lightbulb, thoroughly inspect all surfaces for dust and spiderwebs. And, of course, clean anything missed the first time around. 6. Using a clean lint-free cloth (I find cotton underwear from Wal-Mart works the best), spray a very small amount of window cleaner (streak-free Windex, etc.) on the cloth and rub the cloth together until almost dry. Then, simply wipe all three lenses clean. 7. Replace the back panel and pay close attention to the alignment of the holes to ensure the screw goes back in the same way it came (if not, the panel could ultimately lose the seal and allow for more dust). 8. Allow for several minutes drying time before turning the set back on. Hints: 1. Clean the speaker area, too. 2. Repeat the process at least each 30 - 45 days to ensure optimal performance. 3. Use a small computer fan to circulate air behind the set if the area gathers excessive dust. They're quiet and can be purchased (almost anywhere - Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, etc.)with switches that are easily accessible.
