Brand new, delivered 8/1/07. Connected to Oppo DVD via HDMI. Watched an entire movie(perfect picture). During the second movie picture disappears and entire TV screen displays various color bars, after one minute screen settles down to six faint white horizontal bars and 6inch by 6 inch vertical color bars in lower left corner(similar to UPC code in appearance). Using remote to change video settings does not alter screen except to change some of the colored bars making them larger. Menu feature does not operate either from remote or TV. Audio continues to play properly. Tried various DVDs and switched to Sony DVD player through component conections with same result. When TV is turned on the standby light does not come on, or blink. Sony TV support sent email with general picture problem troubleshooting tried all with no help. All ideas appreciated.

This set does have a video problem. If it was bought locally, then, the retailer may have a 30 day return policy.

Your problem is related to HDMI technology not the Receiver. HDMI in it's current version 1.3b has worked out 90% of the current problems being reported by HDMI users. it's a problem with HDCP digital copyright protection and the recording industry not wanting us "consumers" to duplicate or record their DVD's. Your receiver and every other receiver with version 1.1,-1.2, & 1.2a just don't cooperate with BluRay and even HD Cable or HD Sat receivers. If you just purchased this receiver recently, return it and get an 09' model or equivalent with 1.3a or 1.3b HDMI technology. If this unit is "un-returnable" then, what needs to happen is you need to run component video and digital audio to the receiver OR Run your HDMI directly to your TV and run a Digital Coaxial to your DVD audio input on the receiver. Depending on how many sources you are running to the TV via HDMI will be limited to the TV's capability (how many HDMI inputs)
Now, if your TV is 50" or smaller, the difference between running HDMI and Component is unmeasurable to the human eye. So, if you have to run component, don't sweat it! just use good cable, ie. Monster, Phoenix, Translucent etc. I do theese installs every day, and I still prefer Component or DVI if available over HDMI. They just haven't proved the reliability to me yet and we're three years in! Hope this helps
HDMI outputs from devices such as DVD players do carry both video and audio, but the HDMI output from your computer video card only carries video. You'll need to connect a cable from the computer sound output to the TV as well.
Make sure none of the Digital or Component Input Assignments are programmed, if you're not using them. Set them to "----". This may help. Some of the Component input assignments may over-ride your other input assignments (perhaps even the HDMI input assignments).
you can have the inverter board replaced...instead of the entire panel.

you're looking @ 200-300$ for the inverter and 5-10$ a piece for the spacers.
KDL-46V2500: inverter part # A1251295B you're looking @ around 500-600 $ for the part
it could be that the disc is and ordinary dvd disc and cannot stand the capability with a high def tv because i have the same problem and when 1 put a bluray disc in its fine
