This is usually a simple heating coil malfunction. The coil may have breaks in it causing it not to work. It could also have something to do with 1 of several heating sensors that may be broken, telling the dryer's heating coil that the dryer is too hot, in effect turning off the heating coil. If your dryer has a round lint filter in the rear of the drum, it was 1 of 2 models of Dependable care dryers produced in the 1970's. If this is the case, i supose it would be up to you whether you want to try and get it repaired or not. If you have one of the more recent models,,, the lint filter is directly behind the door, at the front of the drum. and in this case it would probably be a good idea to get it looked at it as Maytag is a relatively dependable brand.

Dryer takes a long time to dry

there is no truth to the fact that dryer elements start to burn out there fore it takes longer to dry cloths the only reason a dryer will take longer to dry cloths is due to lint build up within the unit take the back off and vacume all the old lint out and around the heating element and it will work like new

Maytag Dependable Care Plus/Heavy Duty Dryer Model # LDG9304AAM Dryer is turning, there is heat but clothes are not drying

HI- Usually when the clothes take a long time to dry it is an issue with the vent. Look in the back of the dryer and make sure the vent is not crushed, crimped or blocked. As well, go outside when the unit is running and feel how much air is coming out of the exit vent. It should be blowing pretty good. If not replace and clean the vent, if the vent goes through the wall and makes a bunch of turn over a long distance you will need to have a vent cleaning service out to brush and vacuum the vent. You can test this by detaching the vent where it goes into the wall and putting pantyhose over the end and see if it dries better. You could also have a thermostat issue but I look at the venting first. Hope this helps.

My Maytag Quite Plus clothes dryer gets warm but not as hot as it use to. It seems to take a very long time to dry clothes. Vent is clear. The moisture gage seems to flicker lately.

most dryers have two heating elemts and when one goes out this increases the drying time and could cause a elec. short and trip a braker can be replaced.. There is also a saftey switch that goes bad and will not let the heating elemt work properly ?

Maytag LDG 712 shuts off before clothes are dry.

First, The most common part would be the over limit safety, it will be mounted to the element housing. Second, there is a thermal fuse usually a small disk with a little fuse inside. You can find these (with your model no.) at www.Repairclinic.com .Good luck.

Maytag dryer barely gets warm

Is your vent stopped up? Or your lint screen? Usually an element will be all out, not just a little.

My dryer takes forever to dry clothes!

Depending on the size of your loads, it could very well be that you have the dryer past it's "normal" capacity. This happens quite frequently around my house and the Mrs. will turn the dryer on two-three times on one load, but it's usually overloaded.

As per your question about the belt and it not spinning the drum fast enough, if the belt was slipping, you would smell the rubber burning as it slid over the drum.

As per the heating element, there is no such thing as it burning out. It is either working or IS burned out. there is no middle ground with electric elements.

Might I suggest you try making your loads smaller and see if you get different results. Always know that denim and heavy t-shirts, by default, are gonna take longer because they are more dense.

If, after going through these few steps, you are getting no new results, verify the blower is working properly by placing a few wash cloths, or other light pieces of clothing, and see how long it takes for those to dry.

Lastly, make sure you don't have your exhaust hose crimped or the outside vent is not completely stopped up(though I think you have already gone through these few steps) as this can cause a nasty fire and we don't want that.

Hope this helps.
