I have a maytag mav6200aww washing machine. it stops before the rinse cycle on colors or whites. You can slam the lid and it will continue on. I read on other forums it must be the lid switch, so I replaced it. No change. you can also tap the timer knob and it will continue the cycle. some say there is a balance switch. I have not found it. thought it might be the timer, but if it was would it do it on colors and whites. thanks in advance.. Paul F.
If you say this only happens on the Colors and Whites cycle i dont see what the lid switch or balance sensor (if your washer has one) would have to do with it. It does seem like it has something to do with the timer,,, it really sounds like maybe the (Colors & Whites) section of the timer is malfunctioning. Inside the timer, there are a series of gears and switches, and by slamming the lid, or tapping on the timer control knob,,, it could maybe help the damaged part of the gear move, temporarily "fixing" the problem
