Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 27, 2013

Sm8280867 Our washing machine was not filling with hot water. We discovered that the hoses were kinked, so we replaced them and now NO water will fill in the washing machine. This happened during a load. We were able to finish the spin cycle, but now nothing happens when I turn the dial. No motor sounds at all. It's about 12 years old and we've had a family of 5, so maybe it's just dead? Worth a repairman?

Thanks for the suggestions. Since the water was turned off at the house, it seems it just too some time for the water to make it to the washing machine. I just had to run the water at the faucet for a bit. Works just fine now!

See if all the connections are tight; try inter-changing the water pipes. Water should have good pressure at faucet.......

It is good to turn off the water inlet valve on wall when your wash is done. But don't forget to turn it on again for your next wash!

SOURCE: Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash - Wash Cycle not holding water

Since your washer worked fine while in Germany and now is exhibiting this problem at your new home, you may want to double check how it was installed. I suspect you may have a problem known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

This could be a simple situation where the drain line on the washer is not installed correctly. There are minimum height and length requirments on the drain line. In addition, make sure the stand pipe you have the drain hose inserted in has a proper air gap to allow draining. All of this is explained in the link provided.

I hope this information is helpful to you. The majority of the situations arise from improper installation and is not an operaitonal problem with the washer. If, however, you double check everything and still have problems, please post back and let me know.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool washer won't agitate or spin . But it does drain the water.

i also had the same problem, and it ended up being the coupler. It was not hard to replace, it cost me about 19.00. I didn't follow full recomende instructions. I tipped the washer backwards. Removed the drain pump and the motor itself. Then I removed the old coupling and placed the new one. The washer is working like new...

Hotpoint washer will not fill with hot or cold water,model#HTW240ASK4WS

Hi,
There are basically just few reasons :

1. Maybe the water pressure is too low

2. Hoses are blocked - check that there are no kinks in the cold water fill hose and the waste water hose too

3. Clogged inlet valve - the water inlet valve supplies hot and cold water.

The LE error code keeps flashing why?

LE means level error. The water fill timer timed out before there was enough water in the machine to clean the clothes. Try this:
  1. Turn the hot and cold water supply taps, located at the end of the fill hoses, as far as they will go toward the "Open" position.
  2. Move the washing machine away from the wall, and examine the hot and cold water pipes for kinks, twists or other obstructions.
  3. Unscrew the fill hoses at the washing machine, and inspect the small plastic screens inside for signs of an obstruction.
  4. Check the water pressure in your home; a reading lower than 30 psi might cause the fill times to extend beyond the time the washing machine is programmed to wait. Slow flowing faucets and shower heads are a sign of low water pressure.
  5. Call for service.

My GE washing machine just buzzes instead of filling with water, spin and agitate work fine.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Providing that the water supply is OK with no kinks or squashed hoses and the taps are fully turned on, this is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else ;-0(
Good luck,
John C

Zanussi 1050 washing machine will not fill with cold water . Cold water hose replaced because of a leak in old hose but machine will not now fill

Assuming water supply to machine is okay and no kinks in the hose Then its the solonoid valve that is faulty and needs replaced
